  • The Fruit of Muhammed

    IMG_5355.JPG

The world has been experiencing the fruit of Muhammed for more than 1400 years. And it’s amazing to me that people are confused as to the nature of his religion.

It’s common knowledge, if you want to know what the root of something is, look at its fruit.

    Fruit reveals the root.

Approximately 600 years before Muhammed came on the scene, sharing with his world the revelations he purportedly had received from God, Jesus made this statement:

“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.” (Matthew 7:15-20 NLT)

Every day there is a news item about the group ISIS. Apparently these self proclaimed defenders of both the Islam faith and Muhammed’s reputation believe their sole purpose in life is to eradicate every person who is not a friend of their Prophet, or a follower of their religion.

So how come people are still so confused about who the real Savior is?

By their fruits you will know them.

Not once did Jesus, the Prince of Peace, ever instruct his followers to kill, maim, annihilate, bruise, or even look crossways at an “infidel”; i.e. – someone who didn’t share His beliefs.

    Not once.

In fact, Jesus was known as a “friend to sinners”.

“Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” (Luke 15:1-2 ESV)

Jesus doesn’t force anyone to believe in Him. He does not resort to violence, terrorism or intimidation to present His claims. Everyone is allowed to choose.

“God loved the people of this world so much that He gave His only Son to die for the sins, and sinful nature, of each and every person. That way, WHOEVER believes in Him (commits their life to Him by receiving Him as Lord and Savior) shall not die (remain spiritually dead) but HAVE eternal life”, John 3:16.

Believe and have life. Don’t believe, and you and I remain the same, with an eternal consequence to face when we die physically.

And yet, the spirit of the age (the devil) has this world so confused into believing Jesus is the bad guy and Muhammed is the good guy!

But look at the fruit of Muhammed. Remember, the fruit reveals the root.

It’s time for people to realize that Muhammed is long gone. The spirit motivating his followers is the spirit of darkness; the spirit of satan, the one who WANTED to be God. The one who COULD NEVER be God; so he attacks God’s creation through false prophets such as Muhammed.

Muhammed isn’t anyone’s savior, he’s not coming back on a white horse or a slow train. His place, unless he received Jesus as his Lord and Savior, is in the place of the damned; eternally separated from the Presence of the Living God.

And no, he’s not being entertained by seventy gorgeous virgins, either.

    Or even one.

Don’t buy the lies, or become entangled in the confusion regarding the real Muhammed or the true Savior, Jesus Christ.

    Look at the fruit.

  • Loose in the Church

    image

Years ago, while attending a Full Gospel Business Men’s luncheon, I was asked about the church I pastored.

“I’m an Assemblies of God pastor”, I replied.

“We attend a WORD church”, they informed me.

That phrase has stuck with me for over twenty five years.

Back then, some sectors of the Body of Christ acted as though they owned the market’s share of God’s Word. Like, if you didn’t go to a WORD church, you just weren’t Christian. Well, you might be a Christian, but you weren’t one of God’s favored ones.

There are still some who act that way, but there’s a different emphasis now.

The word now is PROPHETIC (of course, I could be wrong; it may have changed again).

Are YOU prophetic? A guy said to me one time, not that long ago, “I didn’t know you were prophetic!” Wow!

    I remember thinking at the time, “I didn’t know I wasn’t.”

Back in the WORD days, people listened a lot to Hagin, Copeland, Capps, Savelle, Hickey, and others. I did, too. They were known as WORD preachers. They had their own followers; groupies. Though I denied it, looking back, that’s exactly what I was. And proud of it.

    “Brother Copeland said…”

    “Brother Hagin said…”

    “Sister Prophesies Longandloud said…”

And when I could quote them, man did I feel big and important.

I don’t believe it’s what the ministers wanted, but Christians can be really weird at times.

People, myself included, have a tendency to use their affiliation to make themselves look and feel more important than they really are.

Now days there is a different group of people to follow: Johnson, Vallatron, and anyone associated with Bethel Church in Redding, California.

Or, Bethel Music (which, by the way, I do enjoy).

Also, there’s IHOP, Hinn, and hundreds of prophetic ministries serving up a prophetic word to their subscribers.

For a while it was Brownsville and Toronto. Other times it’s been whatever church was promoted on TBN.

    So what’s wrong with that?

  • How Big Is The Game?

    IMG_5293.JPG

I’ve mentioned this before. More than once.

I really like football. Especially the National Football League.

Just like a lot of folks throughout the nation.

But is that a good thing?

Lately, I’ve been going through a period of introspection; asking myself why I do or don’t do certain things. Why is entertainment so important to me? And specifically, why is the NFL so much a part of my life?

How big is the game…to me? How about you?

In just a couple of days, two teams, supposedly the best two out of a league of thirty two, will meet to decide which team is the World Champion.

And finally, after 60 minutes of playing time, two hours of instant replays and commercials, and thirty minutes during which a typically bawdy halftime show “entertains” the viewers, the Lombardi Trophy will be presented to the new champions; the Super Bowl XLIX World Champions.

Why is it such a popular game? Why do I enjoy it so much? Again, just how big is the game?

American Football has been around since 1892, but its popularity didn’t really take off until after that first Super Bowl game, which was played on January 15, 1967. Since then, and especially over the last twenty five years, Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest party days of the year!

I keep asking myself, “Is America’s obsession with sports a good thing?” And, more importantly, “Is MY obsession with football a good thing for me?”

Has the big game become too big…for me? For you?

Can I love both the game AND the Lord at the same time? Can I actually skip watching the big game, and not feel like I’m missing out on something? Not mope around like I’m being punished.

What would happen if I didn’t watch the game, or periodically check the score on my smartphone? Would my actions affect the game’s outcome?

What would I miss? What could I do with the three plus hours I would save by keeping the TV off?

I might miss some great plays. I could miss a few funny commercials. And yes, I just might even miss fellowshipping with my football buddies.

And there’s always the cheerleaders and halftime show to consider. “But I never see the cheerleaders…” Sure, Mike, sure.

But what could I gain by not letting the Super Bowl become so super in my life this year?

I just may have an opportunity to REALLY connect with friends. Something beyond an occasional high five, or, “Hey, bring me some chips on your way back from the kitchen!”

Maybe I’d have time to really appreciate my wife, and not just the party food she prepares for the Big Game. I could turn the control of the TV’s remote over to her for the evening and watch something she’d enjoy, instead.

Who knows? Perhaps I would find the time to read and meditate God’s word. Have a minute or two to pray. Quiet my heart enough to hear the Ruler of the Universe speak to my soul.

Like I said, I’m doing some serious thinking about my love for football. As far as I can tell, football has never added anything of real value to my life. Maybe it’s given you a lot, and that’s cool.

But honestly, I believe I just may be able to live without it.

    Maybe I will.

“Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times…” (Luke 21:34 – 21:36 NLT)

  • Love At A Public School

    IMG_1884.JPG

The heart of my Father was experienced today. The deep, deep, love of Jesus. And you know what? It’s Monday.

Church on Monday? No. I wasn’t in church. I was at a public school. Yes, I said PUBLIC school.

So how does one experience God’s heart of love at a public school? I don’t know. I only know that I did.

It seems to me that every time, lately anyway, I have really sensed Father’s love it has been at the most unexpected moments; I mean, I didn’t schedule the experience or manipulate the “atmosphere” so as to produce an overwhelming revelation of His love for His people. I wasn’t singing a specific worship chorus, though I thoroughly enjoy doing such. Even singing the song, “He loves us” hasn’t produced the raw experience of His love that I had this afternoon.

    Love at a public school.

Would you like to know more about the setting in which I had such an overwhelming experience of the love of God? Like I said, I was at a public school. The school had been informed that a certain church group from another state was going to be on campus to picket the teachers, youth, pastors, and everyone else in the city. The group is well known for its attacks on every human being who dares to walk on two legs. And they were coming to this particular school to let the students and everyone else know just how much God hated them.

I would call that audacious, if I didn’t think a different word might be more descriptive. A word such as “wrong”.

I don’t know how many people attended the event; I do know there were hundreds. Teenagers were out in force, as the picketers were scheduled to arrive over the lunch hour. Teens and adults; some carrying signs, others acting out their message. Bikers, photographers, Christians, atheists, straight, gay, and some who were kind of “fill-in-the-blank” kind of people. Every one in attendance had a message for the group from Kansas, “You are not welcome here.”

As I walked the grounds, praying that the Lord would somehow reach this young and promising generation, I saw three girls; each holding a sign. It didn’t take my lightning fast mind very long to figure out their world view. But just as quickly as I understood the message of their signs, the revelation of God’s love for these young people overwhelmed my heart. A love completely beyond my comprehension. And definitely unexpected.

I experienced this extraordinary love of God one other time since becoming a child of God back in 1975. It was about 2 years ago, in a hospital room not too far from where I was standing this afternoon. A pastor friend had asked me to accompany him as he visited a couple in the hospital. I didn’t know anything about the couple other than they were gay and one was dying from AIDS complications.

When we arrived at the room, what I thought would be a simple hospital visit turned into a visitation from God. Maybe not for everyone else, but certainly for me. God visited me with a sense of His love like I’d never before felt.

One of the young men stood before the pastor weeping, as his partner and love of his life had just died. And I could sense God weeping for the young man; not because the guy was gay but because He wanted so much to show the man His great love.

And that’s what I experienced today. The deep, deep, love of Jesus for this world. Straight or gay, young or old, refined or uncouth; it doesn’t matter.

Jesus’ love is more than a doctrine. It’s more than the password we use for Christian fellowship.

It is something that can truly change our world; one life at a time.

It’s changing me. Changing the way I look at people, and the way I pray for people.

It has a way of making me feel very uncomfortable around certain people; like I’m doing something wrong by talking with people who are so different from me. And ENJOYING it!

The love of Jesus. If allowed to run its course it will reach places thought to be unreachable. It will put to death the things within us that hinder God’s work. Things like hatred, bigotry, envy, and pride. The love of Jesus melts away visions of our own self-righteousness and grandeur, and reveals just how much we need our great God.

I realized today my own inability to love people as I should. But today, especially today, the love of God was shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit.

    Love at a public school.

    How He loves us!

“For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (Romans 5:5 NLT)

  • Opportunities

    IMG_5255.JPG

    Opportunities.

    Let’s talk about opportunities.

Opportunities God may give; and opportunities we may miss.

You’ve heard the phrase, “A window of opportunity”? How many times? Probably a lot of times. And have you heard the scripture, “Windows of Heaven”? Yes?

But have you ever considered the window of opportunity, and the window of heaven, could be one and the same?

And if they’re the same, is it possible to miss the opportunity God has for us because of disobedience on our part?

    Simply, yes. It is possible.

    A passage from Malachi:

“Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me!” (God’s words to his people)

“But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’

“You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” (Malachi 3:8-12 NLT)

No, dear one, I am not going to give the same old, worn out interpretation of the “Tithe Chapter”. To me, there is so much more God wants to get across to his people than just tithing.

And no, I don’t believe God tells us to prove him with our tithe. I don’t believe it for a minute; though I believe in tithing.

The people of God had turned away from the Lord. It was evidenced by the way they pulled back from bringing their tithe to the priests. Instead of helping support the work of God FIRST, they were taking care of their needs FIRST, and then giving their leftovers to God.

So he said, “You folks need to return to me.”

    “How?”, they replied.

    “The way you left.”

Did you know that people can tithe and STILL be far from God?

If a person tithes, yet turned to the worship of idols, would God’s blessing of open windows be theirs? No. God would say, “You need to return to me by turning away from your idols.”

The very thing that opens up Heaven’s windows; the very thing that brings the windows of opportunity, is OBEDIENCE.

Obedience to the revealed will of God.

    Obedience. Obedience proves God.

He says, “Do thus and so, and I’ll do this and so.” We obey, he honors his word. He’s not a liar, nor is he a manipulator.

Obedience opens the window of opportunity, and the windows of Heaven.

So does this answer the questions, “Why don’t we see Heaven’s windows opened more?” “Why do we miss so many windows of opportunity?”

Jesus said, “I always do what my Father tells me to do.”

“So Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me. And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.” (John 8:28-29 ESV)

    And notice:

“Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?” But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires. ” So John agreed to baptize him. After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened…” (Matthew 3:13-16 NLT)

Heavens were opened as Jesus obeyed his father. Opened Heavens translates to opportunities to touch someone with Heaven’s touch. Isn’t that what we really want? I know it’s what God wants.

Much more than our piddly pocket change.

    Or our thousand dollar checks.

    He wants our heart.

Don’t miss the opportunity of a lifetime, as the rich young ruler did when he walked away from Jesus’ instruction on how the young man could “return”. He walked away from the greatest opportunity of his life because obeying was too high a price to pay.

God has set before each of us windows.
Opportunities abound, when one walks with God.

Are you going to settle for miserly living? Or will you align your heart and mind with the lover of your soul and say, “Yes, Lord! I have come to do your will! Your wish is my command.”

Do the right thing, and watch the windows open wide.

  • Choice of Punishment

    IMG_5244.JPG

Did you know that the Lord, many times, allows wrong doers the opportunity to choose their own punishment? Their own fate? It’s true. People have had a choice of punishment. Here’s an example with King David:

“But after he had taken the census, David’s conscience began to bother him. And he said to the Lord , “I have sinned greatly by taking this census. Please forgive my guilt, Lord , for doing this foolish thing.”

“The next morning the word of the Lord came to the prophet Gad, who was David’s seer. This was the message: “Go and say to David, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will give you three choices. Choose one of these punishments, and I will inflict it on you.’” So Gad came to David and asked him, “Will you choose three years of famine throughout your land, three months of fleeing from your enemies, or three days of severe plague throughout your land? Think this over and decide what answer I should give the Lord who sent me.”

“I’m in a desperate situation!” David replied to Gad. “But let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great. Do not let me fall into human hands.” (2 Samuel 24:10-14 NLT)

David realized he had disobeyed God. He acknowledged his sin before the Lord, and the Lord, through the prophet Gad, gave him three punishment options. David had a choice of punishment.

David did the right thing and put his fate into the just and loving hands of God. He decided to let God choose.

That was then. This is now. God hasn’t changed, and neither has man.

True, God has judged sin once and for all through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. But people must make a personal decision either for, or against Christ. And if mankind would only have the sense (and faith) to call upon Him, my, how different the world would be.

If the people of this nation would truly repent of their selfish ways and receive Jesus as their Lord, this nation would turn around over night.

But they don’t. They keep living as if God isn’t real; or, if He is, He didn’t mean what He said. They won’t humble themselves before God, as David did.

So God has given the people of the U.S. a choice; a choice of punishment. “How will you be punished for your lawlessness, selfishness, and arrogance?”

    What choice did Americans make?

Well, America voted on it. The voters, the votes of the electoral college, the pen and phone of the president, the lobbyists, and even the Supreme Court have all gotten into the act of replacing God; removing Him from society. The nerve, and downright arrogance, of this country. “We’ll decide once and for all if same-sex marriage is right.”

The majority will have their say.

And that will be America’s punishment. America will have to learn how to fend for themselves. God won’t force His ways upon anyone. Not then, not now, not ever.

He’ll let them have their say; their way.

    Good luck, America.

  • John Fox and Da Bears

    IMG_5242.GIF

I’m a huge Chicago Bears fan. While I understand there’s only one Savior, Jesus Christ, still I’m excited about the possibilities afforded my team with the hiring of a new head coach. Especially THIS head coach.

True, historically the Bears haven’t responded all that favorably the first season after a coaching change. But outside of George Halas, the franchise has never hired a winning head coach.

Again, it’s only a game. But it’s my favorite game and my favorite team.

So here’s a little something for all you folks like me. It expresses my thoughts, hopes, and dreams for my favorites – John Fox and Da Bears.

An Ode to John Fox and Da Bears

Chicago has a team called Da Bears
Whose record was lousy this year
So they hired this man Fox
To teach to tackle and block
And make Cutler get his rear in gear!

Now there are some who just may doubt
That da Bears can climb their way out
    Of playing so badly
But I’ll say this quite gladly
John Fox knows what winning’s about.

The Fox will soon pin back his ears
And focus on rebuilding Da Bears
    Spring camp will be tough
    But you’ll see, soon enough
The Midway Monsters returning next year.

Don’t think of me as a dumb jerk
Or a fanatic who’s done gone berserk
I call it like it is
    Mister Fox is a whiz
His game plans are all gonna work.

So the Super Bowl is now in view
Though the believers may be few
Fox will wake up Da Bears
And with his best team in years
Take the Lombardi; it is long overdo.

    Jan Grace
    Bears Fan

Now some may criticize me for acting in such a carnal way. After all, football is worldly and violent. So, if this post offends you, I’m sorry.

May I leave each of you with one question?

    Here it is:

If Jesus had been born into our world, here in 2015, do you think he would have played high school sports?

I’ll let you know what I think in a few days.

  • Drastic Measures

    IMG_4439.JPG

Gaining freedom from pornography can be an instantaneous event, as the power of God drives out the lustful spirits, and the love of Jesus brings forgiveness and grace to the individual.

However, maintaining freedom isn’t an event; it is a process.

A process which involves God’s grace, accountability, and drastic measures at times.

    Drastic measures?

    Yes.

Whatever it takes to reprogram your thinking, and establish new, healthy habits.

Drastic measures such as smashing your computer if you can’t stay off the internet. And if your smart phone is where your demons like to hide, throw it away and get an old flip phone. I realize they aren’t near as cool as an iPhone, but hey, freedom is worth it.

It may not be easy, but you may need to find a different place to purchase your fountain drink on your way to work. You know what I’m talking about. Some stores have magazines, and other stores have MAGAZINES! Find a store that is porn free; and you’ll find it easier to remain porn free.

Television, Sirius radio, etc.; a myriad of places to avoid if freedom is important. I didn’t say the process was easy. Easy and drastic aren’t compatible at all.

Doing the easy thing is what gets people like you and I hooked on porn.

Taking drastic measures, along with trusting and obeying God, is what brings us sustainable freedom from porn.

The grace of God will help you do the right thing, when doing the right thing is all that matters.

Drastic measures. Not business as usual.

I believe real freedom is worth it. Don’t you?

“Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.” (Romans 8:12-13 NLT)

  • Sports Fans

    IMG_5229.JPG

Sports fans are so loyal. I should know. I’ve been a Chicago Bears fan for 30 years.

Please. I’m alright. You see, I have hope.

Interesting thing about fans: they weather bad season after losing season. “Next season!”, is their annual mantra.

The Chicago Bears’ record over the last 30 years is 264-216. That’s a winning percentage of 55%. Not great, but not bad.

But for a sports fan – it doesn’t matter at all! Why?

Because there’s ALWAYS next year. Hope.

Sports fans study the stats, team roster, draft picks, and who’s on injured reserve. If they can get close enough, they’ll even tell the manager how to run the team.

Just listen to the folks at work on Monday mornings, following a big game. Monday’s the day all the experts are out and about.

Yes, sports fans are a strange breed. They can be so frustrated and even angry (to the point of throwing pillows, books, TV remotes, etc.) about a certain play someone did or didn’t do; yet they still wear the team colors.

    Amazing!

And when they talk with others, they say phrases like, “We sure beat up on those Vikes yesterday!” Or, “We really need to get a new coach and quarterback!”

Notice the way sports fans talk; it’s as though THEY own the team. Or like they put on the pads, or swing the bat every week.

    Sports fans.

I’ve got a Jay Cutler doll I won from a “claw machine”. For a while I let him watch the games with me for good luck. Ha! I finally banished him to the deep, dark recesses of my basement. It was either that or I was going to start sticking long needles into him.

Yes, the basement was the better choice.

But I’m a fan! A real, live sports fan. I can talk sports smack with the best of them. And even though my team’s record was 5-11 this year, I still am able to say it loud and proud: Next year!

Yep. A strange breed of cat. Sports fans.

And as a sports fan, I believe husbands and wives should be as loyal to each other as sports fans are to their teams. Instead of trading “teams” after a bad year, learn to say, “Next year will be better.” And then study and prepare, learning all you can in order to improve your “chances” of having a winning marriage the following year.

Imagine the difference we could see in our marriage if we had the patience of a true sports fan. For instance, what if we learned to use the line Oakland Raiders fans have used for years: “We’re rebuilding. It’s gonna take awhile, but with good coaching, good draft picks, hard work, and a lot of patience, a winning team can be built.”

Folks, our marriages are MUCH MORE important than ANY sports team. Even if we really were the owners of a sports team, the team isn’t more important than the marriage.

If we can find it in our hearts to “forgive” our team for making us feel so bad, or embarrass us in front of our family and friends, isn’t it possible we can find enough grace and mercy for our spouse? Come on, you know it’s in there somewhere.

Don’t act like a fair weather fan. Don’t be so quick to trade your spouse simply because they’ve given you a disappointing season. Grow up.

Sometimes it takes a little bit of time to turn things around. But things can improve. There can be better seasons; better years.

Remember, the best is yet to come. When?

    Next year, sports fans.

And with God, all things are possible.

  • Do Not Neglect The Gift

    IMG_5214.JPG

Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. (1 Timothy 4:14 NKJV)

Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. (2 Timothy 1:6 NKJV)

The gift of God, given to a person through the prophetic word (and the laying on of hands), is a strong indication that God is not content to simply wait for the last person (whoever that is) to give their heart to Jesus (whenever that will be).

God doesn’t play a “Prevent Defense”.

And he doesn’t orchestrate the actions of his church; thinking he has to settle for a tie with wickedness or anything else the devil throws at him or us.

    No!

God goes for the win. He is always planning his invitations, preparing his messengers, and pursuing his loved ones; all seven billion of us.

Three things strike me strongly, in the two verses posted above..

    1. The gift (charisma) is a special endowment from God. A spiritual gift, in that it’s spiritual in nature, yet it is to be used in the natural. Out where people, hurting and broken, live. A gift of God, yet given to a man to impart to someone else.

    2. Speaking prophetically is speaking in God’s stead; as his mouthpiece. Laying on of hands, therefore, is touching someone in God’s stead; on his behalf.

    3. Though the gift comes from God, and the words and hands represent God’s words and hands, still we have the responsibility to stir up the gift. We have the duty of not neglecting the gift. God won’t operate it for us, and neither will the ones who prophesied over us while laying hands upon us.

If God is going to be honored as he should be, we must use the gifts he’s given, as he prescribes.

If people are going to be helped as God has planned and prepared, we must not hold back using what we have; even though we may not think we have very much.

If the gift isn’t used, then there isn’t any reason for the prophetic word, or the laying on of hands. None of the gifts are meant just to be displayed, as a Christian version of Show and Tell.

God doesn’t have to anoint or impart gifts to any one of us. But it’s a sure thing he is going to enable and endow someone. He needs people to do the work of the ministry. He needs folks yielded to him so he can flow through them. So, since he’s looking for someone who will partner with him, it might as well be me.

    And you.

Do not neglect God. Do not neglect God’s gift. Do not neglect God’s purpose. Do not neglect God’s prophetic word.

And do not neglect God’s people. They just may be someone who has something of God’s to impart to you.

    Or, to receive from you.
