The Candidate Most Likely To Be Elected

In anticipation of the upcoming caucus and primary season, I’ve prepared a piece describing the candidate most likely to be elected. It’s a little lengthy, but it will only take you a few minutes to read.

Hey, it’s not my fault that there are so many candidates.

Just in case you’re wondering how I, a nobody in any circle of political analysts or pundits, could feel so confident in my prediction that I’d post it on the world wide Internet, it’s really quite easy to explain. I’ve simply looked at the data from the past three general elections, moistened my index finger, then raised it as high in the air as my modest 5’8″ frame would allow. And I think I’ve come up with a pretty accurate prediction of who could be the next President of the United States of America.

I’ll begin my description of the candidate most likely to be elected by saying it won’t be a woman. While there are many men and women ready to welcome a female Commander in Chief, the country as a whole hasn’t totally warmed up to the idea. Sorry, no Hillary or Carly this time around.

The candidate most likely to be elected will have a smooth tongue, but not necessarily a truthful one. And it’s my opinion that the one elected will be even more determined to meld America into the world’s mixing pot of socialism and a one world government than any previous president.

I know it’s hard to believe, but watch and see. Despite the rhetoric, the democratic and republican platforms, and all of the red, white, and blue lapel pins, the American way of life is close to extinction.

My opinion.

Patriotism is huge in some parts of the country, and among certain age groups. But people primarily vote according to their bank balance, not moral convictions. When the time comes, and come it will, to either vote for America’s sovereignty or join with the “prosperous” One World government, it doesn’t take much imagination to figure out what will happen.

You say people would never go for that? Well, you might want to pull your head out of the sandbox. It’s gonna happen. Plain and simple.

People MAY slow things a little, but they can’t stop the inevitable.

Economics has a much louder voice than patriotism.

Okay, back to the election.

I like Carson. He’s a very smart guy. Too smart, though, for most voters. And the comment he made saying a Muslim should not be in the Whitehouse didn’t help him among the freedom in diversity crowd.

So Carson’s out.

Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindahl are non-contenders as I see it. I like what they say, but they are too radical for the ones who vote.

Jeb Bush is a Bush – ’nuff said.

Mike Huckabee is a Southern Baptist preacher. Can you imagine people who have swallowed the diversity and tolerance message hook, line, and sinker voting for a Baptist? Hardly. No, Huckabee isn’t going to make it all the way.

Chris Christie talks tougher than he really is. Of course, I’m only looking at his record, his comments, and his “let’s show the dems just how tough I can be” lane closures on the George Washington Bridge. I see him trying to play the role of a tough appeaser.

Was it Confucius who said “He who tries to play both sides against the middle ends up in a tangled mess”?

Maybe not.

Lindsey Graham has a great southern accent, but he’s too liberal for staunch conservatives, and too republican for the democratic vote.

Besides, he’s too short.

Jim Gilmore says he’s a republican, but thinks like a liberal. He would probably do well as a last days commander in chief, so I’ll let him stay in the mix for a bit.

Rick Santorum? Talks too much like a Bible banger. Doesn’t he realize this country needs more than God? Well, if he doesn’t yet, the voters will let him know.

John Kasich, George Pataki, and Rand Paul? Of the three, George is the most qualified to lead us into union with the rest of the world. Why do I say that?

Two words. New York.

John Kasich talks a lot, and no one cares what he says. Rand Paul hates the rest of the world, and doesn’t mix well with Iraqis.

Probably got beat up on the school playground a lot.

And yes, there’s the Donald to consider.

But why? Mr. Trump is in love with Mr. Trump. He’d be the first to cave to the one world government, if he thought he was getting a good deal.

In case you’ve forgotten, the next four years will not be about returning America to its greatness.

America has been throwing that away in the name of perversion, I mean, diversity, for the past umpteen years. Republican, Democrat, Independent… it doesn’t matter. Our course is set, and that’s that.

We’re gonna have a one world government, Americans be darned!

There’s not a single politician declaring the message of Jonah the prophet. Though it’s what this nation needs, the future president knows it won’t get him elected.

Nor will it fit well with the rest of the world.

Oh, and let’s not forget the rest of the candidates; the ones braying like jackasses, touting all the wonderful things they’ve done.

Things like supporting same sex marriage and abortion on demand. Funding Planned Parenthood as though it’s part of the American Dream.
Family planning services, what a joke. China has basically the same kind of FPS. Back in Moses’ day, Pharaoh had a similar plan. Kill all the boy babies. China, their planning service is simply limiting the amount of children a couple may have. Pregnant again? Oh well, time for an abortion.

Although the House passed a bill to defund Planned Parenthood for one year, the Senate will probably fail to follow suit. But if they do, the President will certainly veto the bill.

And the nation that swears in her president with one hand placed on a bible, and the other raised to God, will cheer wildly as another nail in her coffin is hammered in.

Oh yeah. The election.

Who do I predict will be the candidate elected to be the nation’s 45th president?

Sanders is cool. Cool as a cucumber grown on a state run farm. Share and share alike. Raise the minimum wage so everyone can have a livable wage.
Sanders is socialism at its finest. His world view may fit with the one world government, so let’s wait and see.

Joe Biden? I’m truly sorry he lost a son. I can’t imagine what that’s like. But I also can’t imagine him as our next president.

Andrew Cuomo? Al Gore? Dennis Kucinich (how many times has he run, anyway)? Brian Schweitzer? Montana, it’s nice to see you tossing in a name.

Whoever it will be, I predict it will be the most liberal, diverse, one world government, socialist candidate on the slate. Because it’s basically what this country has groomed itself to become.

I know this isn’t a very encouraging post to some of you. I’m sorry. I hope I’m wrong. I pray I’m wrong.
I’m going to vote to make me wrong.

How about you?

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared…” (1 Timothy 4:1-2 ESV)

Pornography – A Feel Good Killer

There are many things in this world which stimulate the human senses; things that make a body say, “aaahhh, how nice!”

Good things and things not so good. Sinful things. Yes, sin can be, and usually is, pleasurable. That’s why it’s so popular.

It’s why you and I do sinful things. We enjoy the good feelings we get. They are pleasurable; for a season. Until the final bill is due.

“…than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season…” (Hebrews 11:25 KJV)

Pornography feels good, at least for a while.

Pornography is a feel-good killer. You can feel good all the time until it finally kills you. And kill you it will.

Pornography kills intimacy. It is impossible to be intimate with your spouse, completely open and transparent, if your mind is full of pornographic images. Impossible.

I didn’t say it’s impossible to have sex. But intimacy and sex are not synonymous. At all.

Pornography kills a person’s self image. Oh, they may consider themselves quite the stud or vixen while viewing or participating with porn, but when the show closes, the phone call’s finished, and the real live person is staring back at you in the mirror; when reality sets in and your conscience screams at you to be honest with yourself, you have to admit you can’t stand the person you’ve become.

Of course, there is a way to beat THAT feeling. Just keep ignoring it and you’ll find out that porn killed the voice of your conscience.

If that happens, you are well on your way to becoming a mindless reprobate; completely unable to live according to principles, or honor any commitment, vow, or oath. When the urge, the desire, speaks, every part of your body obeys. It must find a way to answer the “call”, even if it has to steal, lie, cheat, sneak; whatever.

Pornography kills integrity.

Pornography kills relationships.

Pornography kills innocence.

Pornography kills purity.

Pornography kills any hope of real love.

Pornography is an empty promise. It never delivers what it initially boasts. All it does is open one’s soul to greater degrees of depravity.

It’s like a fire. Pornography keeps striking matches, burning one’s soul a piece at a time, until finally, the life is consumed.

Pornography kills the future of its slave.

Pornography kills self-control.

Pornography kills one’s ability to honor the marriage bed.

“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” (Hebrews 13:4 ESV)

Pornography is fornication. It is adultery. It is vile. It has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It is diabolical, evil, and many good men and women have been destroyed by it.

Pornography – a feel-good killer.

If you’re a slave to it, or if you’re just its close friend, you’d better find a way to get yourself free; while you still have feelings. Because sooner or later, if you don’t kill it, it will kill you.

While you still have a conscience, find someone somewhere who can help you break your downward journey to hell.

A feel-good killer will not release you from its grip, any more than a fire will regret the damage it’s doing and blow itself out.

A Spidery Web

I cannot tolerate spiders. In fact, I may even be what people refer to as arachnophobic. I can smash them, but I get real edgy until they’re wiped out.

The picture at the heading is one I took a few hours ago. As we were leaving a funeral home, my built in spider alarm went off and I saw this spider in the middle of its web (no, I didn’t see any fly in the web, nor did I hear some one say, “Help me! Help me!”).

Mustering all my courage, I grabbed my phone and, getting as close as I dare (you know how they can jump), snapped the shot.

What a nice web! A beautiful, spidery web. Just perfect for catching food for its family.

Great for trapping a victim it can devour, as it becomes entangled in the sticky web.

Looking at the picture, I began thinking about a spiritual application. Here’s what I discovered:

“Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.” (2 Timothy 2:25-26 NLT)

Traps, or spider webs (such as pictured above), are always placed in strategic places. They are located in areas frequented by the prey they are desiring.

Spiders catch flies by constructing their webs in the fly’s neighborhood. Unless the fly is paying attention and watching what it’s doing, it will become spider food before it knows what happened.

Too many flies are careless with their lives. Even with their fascinating eyes, they can only see a couple of yards at the most. In other words, because they move faster than they can see, or think, they wind up in the nice, spidery web.

People do that. I know I have.

The devil places his traps in areas you and I frequent; right in the middle of our ordinary day to day lives. And when we either move too quickly for our brain to react, or we simply ignore the truth of God’s word, we become devil’s food.

Unless we can shake ourselves out of the sticky web in time.

Every temptation is common to man. Temptations are located only in the places man lives. But with each temptation, there is a way to escape. And that can be found by slowing down the movement to allow time to really find out what we may be getting ourselves into.

God’s word will help you and I discern right from wrong, and will keep us from, or deliver us from, the devil’s web. That is, if we’ll pay attention.

Just because there are spider webs placed in strategic places doesn’t mean the fly automatically is doomed. Not every fly is caught. Some live long enough to pester me!

And no one need be caught in a spidery web.

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT)

The Closet

It seems like the world is all geared up for house cleaning. Do you know what I mean?

When I was a teenager, my little brother, who is nine years younger, had a messy closet. From time to time I had the chore of “helping” him clean it out.

You wouldn’t believe the things we’d find in the closet.

Toys, socks, books, more toys, and lots of miscellaneous articles of clothing.

By the time “we” were finished, the closet would be nice and neat, but the bedroom would be a wreck.

Kind of like today.

The closet is getting cleared out, but now the junk is everywhere.

Quite frankly, I think it would have been just fine for the closet to stay messy.

But that’s not how people are.

We like to think we know best about everything. We’re happy with our choices, especially if we can get everyone to agree with us.

So instead of peeking into our closet full of questionable and messy things, we take the closet door off its hinges so everyone can see what we’ve allowed to grow in the dark room.

Only now, and unlike my chore of years ago, rather than properly disposing of the junk and odd socks, people expect everyone else to applaud the mess they’ve made.

They parade their closet junk in front of everyone, just daring someone to tell them it’s wrong.

They want people to affirm their closet lifestyle as the norm.

But you know what? I’m not going to affirm the closet stuff as good, or normal, or the way God made them.

Why? Because it isn’t the norm.

It’s only the mess from the closet.

Drastic Measures

Gaining freedom from pornography can be an instantaneous event, as the power of God drives out the lustful spirits, and the love of Jesus brings forgiveness and grace to the individual.

However, maintaining freedom isn’t an event; it is a process.

A process which involves God’s grace, accountability, and drastic measures at times.

Drastic measures?

Whatever it takes to reprogram your thinking, and establish new, healthy habits.

Drastic measures such as smashing your computer if you can’t stay off the internet. And if your smart phone is where your demons like to hide, throw it away and get an old flip phone. I realize they aren’t near as cool as an iPhone, but hey, freedom is worth it.

It may not be easy, but you may need to find a different place to purchase your fountain drink on your way to work. You know what I’m talking about. Some stores have magazines, and other stores have MAGAZINES! Find a store that is porn free; and you’ll find it easier to remain porn free.

Television, Sirius radio, etc.; a myriad of places to avoid if freedom is important. I didn’t say the process was easy. Easy and drastic aren’t compatible at all.

Doing the easy thing is what gets people like you and I hooked on porn.

Taking drastic measures, along with trusting and obeying God, is what brings us sustainable freedom from porn.

The grace of God will help you do the right thing, when doing the right thing is all that matters.

Drastic measures. Not business as usual.

I believe real freedom is worth it. Don’t you?

“Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.” (Romans 8:12-13 NLT)

Truth Will Not Make You Free

Would you be mad at me if I told you truth will not make you free?

Okay, so I’ll wait until you’re almost done reading to tell you.

So instead I’ll ask you, “Are YOU free?”

Do YOU want to be free? How “free” do you want to be?

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32 NLT)

“He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.” (Titus 2:14 NLT)

I’ll ask again, how “free” do you want to be?

Free, compared to others? Like, instead of both legs in manacles, only one is chained? Is that really freedom?

What does freedom mean to you?

Some want freedom to do what they want, when they want, without any adverse consequences.

That would be like a person who wants to drive their car as fast as they want, wherever they choose, and live to tell about it.

Freedom doesn’t work that way.

I can’t just say I want to be free of pornography and still feed my lustful desires.

Neither can you.

I will never gain freedom over gluttony without saying no to my belly.

And I will not walk in the freedom of God’s word if I never read it, think about it, or choose to do what it says.

Again, neither will you.

Just as there are speed limit signs posted to help you and I navigate the highways safely, so God’s word is given to help us navigate safely the road of life.

Truth alone won’t bring freedom. Obeying the truth will bring freedom.

The speed limit sign alone will not keep you on the road. Obeying the sign just might.

Remember this: disregarding, or ignoring truth may seem like freedom for a while. But being laid up in a hospital for months on end is not freedom. And some don’t end up that well.

Freedom. Knowing AND doing the truth.

“…don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” (James 1:22 NLT)

True Freedom Is Found In Christ

Just because you don’t have to worry about an enemy, doesn’t mean you’re free.

And although you have certain rights and privileges others in the world don’t have, it isn’t necessarily a sign of freedom.

You can have all the comforts of home, make a million bucks a day, come and go as you please…

And still be a slave to sin and the devil.

Only Jesus can give you true freedom. Freedom now, and freedom for all eternity.

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (and free).
Romans 10:13

Let this be YOUR Independence Day.

Mary Magdalene’s Morning

I got up early, after a fitful sleep. Over and over, throughout the night, my mind replayed the horrible sights and sounds I witnessed a few days earlier.

I begin my walk of mourning, to the place where my heart was buried.

Jerusalem had been very busy for several days, with the Passover feast and all. People had come from miles around to offer sacrifices, meet with family and friends, and to watch the show.

It’s funny how people are, don’t you think? They almost faint when they see a single drop of blood, yet when something so extreme as a crucifixion takes place, they can’t seem to pull their eyes away from the gruesome sight. And when there are three crosses raised toward heaven, it really draws a crowd.

I didn’t want to look. I didn’t want to go to the hill at all. I even tried to force my way through the crowd, trying to make it home before lunch; but I could only go where the mob took me. There was no way out. And all I could see were the crosses; each one displaying their prize.

Crazy Man’s Last Country Tune

Try and picture, if you can, the crazy man of Gadara as a Country Western singer. Imagine him running through the cemetery wearing nothing more than chains around his wrists and ankles, a belt with a buckle half the size of Texas, and of course, a huge black cowboy hat. Sorry for the visual.

Maybe that’s what opened the door for him to be filled with demons! Too many Honky Tonks and not enough smarts. Hey, we all make dumb decisions, don’t we?

The words below match up with a country-like tune I have in my head. I was thinking about how someone might sound if they truly believed they had things worse than everyone else.

Which, you have to admit, is a great beginning to a CW song.

So, pour yourself a glass of root beer, lean back in your favorite chair, and plant those boots firmly on the table. Feel free to come up with your own tune; just make sure it has that nasally, country whine.

Listen as the Crazy Man sings his last country tune.

Crazy Man’s Last Country Tune

Verse 1:
My head is a-hurtin’,
My stomach’s a-churnin’,
Misery and pain’s got me blue
My hands are a-shakin’,
My hope’s down and fadin’,
Every time I try to win, I lose.

I’ve seen the headlines
I’ve read the story lines
All those hi-def pictures make me cry
But I’m just a mad one
Pain-filled and undone
Yet no one will dare tell me why.

Chorus 1:
‘Cause nobody knows
The trouble I’m in
The dangers without,
The demons within.
Hated and maligned,
I’m like trash on the floor
When will I find release
From this life I abhor?

Verse 2:
Starving kids and lost pets
Don’t compare with regrets
Like the ones I have each and every day
If only I could be free
But no one tries to help me
These dev’lish imps seem to have their say.

Don’t feed me your sad line
I just ain’t got the time
I’ve got enough worries of my own
If you pray, say one for me
Though it’s okay to let me be
I’m really much better off alone.

Chorus 1:
‘Cause nobody knows
The trouble I’m in
The dangers without,
The demons within.
Hated and maligned,
I’m like trash on the floor
When will I find release
From this life I abhor?

Hey, look! Here comes the One
My demons scream, “it’s time to run”
But my heart sings like never before.
The Son, He speaks to me
“Come out of him!”, the demons flee
Praise God! the One named Jesus is Lord!

Chorus 2:
‘Cause Somebody knew
The trouble I was in
The dangers without,
The demons within,
His pow’r set me free,
This One I adore,
My hope is renewed,
My life is restored!

I believe the former crazy man left country western music and began leading praise and worship over in the Decapolis region. Last I heard he was doing well and giving music lessons.

You know, Jesus can free anyone from anything! Yep, even someone who’s possessed by country demons (and rock, classical, rap, etc., demons).

They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones. And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before him. And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the pigs, and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and were drowned in the sea.

The herdsmen fled and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man, the one who had had the legion, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. And those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and to the pigs. And they began to beg Jesus to depart from their region (Mark 5:1 – 5:17 ESV)

Songs To Escape By

“You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.” (Psalm 32:7 NASB)

The psalmist sang this declaration to the Lord after realizing how blessed he was to be free from the guilt, shame, and penalty of his transgressions.

Praise and worship doesn’t require anything more than a thankful, grateful heart. It is simply about touching the Father’s heart; and Father touching ours. And God is pleased when we sing just because we’re grateful.

When God’s happy, his people get happy. What makes God happy enough to join us in our gathering?

Gratefulness. Thankfulness.

That’s reason enough to sing, don’t you agree? It sure works for me.

So I sing to the Lord, “You are my hiding place. You preserve me from trouble. You have surrounded me with ‘songs to escape by'”.

Did you notice that last line? ‘Songs of deliverance’ also means ‘songs to escape by’.

How does God give us, surround us with, songs to escape by?

Think of it sort of as “words to live by”, only it’s singing while fleeing. Singing while escaping. Now maybe it’s becoming clear.

Escape from what? Well, there are snares belonging to the “trapper”; our adversary. There are also secret sins (or areas in our life we can’t see). There are evil men and women planning our demise…

And there’s the marvelous escape from the guilt, shame, and penalty of sin! Hallelujah!

The point is, to the grateful, the thankful, God gives special songs. Songs to sing when escaping captivity, escaping the trapper’s snare, and escaping from the plots and schemes of evil men and women.

The songs?

Praise and worship! Songs to escape by.

I’m sure you know that some songs carry an “anointing” to make you sad, glad, and bad. But God has songs to help you escape! Oh, happy day!

Come on! Pick up your hymnal, the book of psalms, and let it out!

Go ahead. Sing! God doesn’t care if a braying mule has a better voice than yours.

And flee like a bird escaping from the trapper’s snare; the fowler’s feast.

“Blessed be the LORD, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 124:6-8 NKJV)
