  • A Matter Of Faith

    I recently asked my Facebook friends “Is the devil real – yes or no?”. 

    Overwhelmingly their response was yes.

    Okay. Does that mean the devil IS real?

    No. Public opinion doesn’t make a thing true or false. 

    If YOU asked YOUR Facebook friends the same question, yours might respond in a different way.

    Back to my question: “Is the devil real?” What are the possible answers?

    1. Yes

    2. No

    3. Maybe yes, maybe no

    What if I asked, “Is God real?”
    Same choices.

    Truth is truth, regardless of whether you, I, or anyone else believes it.

    And truth is truth whether or not you or I know how to prove it.

    So, is the devil real?

    Let’s go through our choices. Starting with, “Yes, he’s real”, how might that truth affect us? Will it change the way we act? Should it?

    “No, he’s not…” I mean, really. If we were to find out the devil isn’t real would that change our worldview?

    Maybe you are of the opinion that no one can know until their life is over. But if you wait until that happens, what then?

    There are people who claim to have seen the devil. Others claim to have seen God, Jesus, angels, demons, and Elvis Presley (while visiting Branson, Missouri).

    I’m not going to make a big deal about what someone claims to have seen. Why? Because none of it matters, where faith is concerned. 

    “…for we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV)

    I believe the devil is real. I also believe he’s a liar, a killer, a thief, and grade A jerk. Why do I believe that?

    Because, and only because, I believe the Bible. 

     

    It’s simply a matter of faith.

     

    I believe the Bible is the Word of God. It is His revelation to mankind regarding His holiness and our sinfulness. It reveals His character and our lack thereof. It also reveals the way His undying love reached out for you and I, through the cross of Christ, and our woeful attempts to reach Him by being good enough.

    I believe in God and I believe in the devil. Better still, I believe God and what God said about the devil.

    Someday each one of us will find out, in no uncertain terms, exactly what is true or false. But until then, we must choose what we’re going to believe.

    That could make all the difference in the world and the hereafter. Because, like I said…

    …it’s a matter of faith.

    “…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (Romans 10:9-10 ESV)

  • Hiding Behind God

    Every so often I read or hear a statement that really trips my trigger. And I just bet you do, as well.
    I recall hearing someone recently say, “Christians are always hiding behind their God.”

    Isn’t it amazing? Like, is there anything wrong with that?

    Everyone uses someone or something to hide behind. It may be pride, or physical looks. Have you noticed how important physical appearance is for many folks?

    Others hide behind their bank accounts, jobs, positions, and such.

    You see, there are a lot of ways to cover our insecurities.

    Intellect and intelligence, the capacity for knowledge and the ability to use it in a practical sense, can be a hiding place for others. After all, if they can’t figure it out, then how can it be worth knowing; let alone true?

    Some dear, God fearing Americans hide behind the United States Constitution. I’m not knocking it. I’m only saying it wasn’t designed to hide behind, but to support a republic type of government; “…that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.”

    Or, as another writer put it, “one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.”

    There are, quite possibly, scads of people who like to pick out a single Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to hide behind. Some prefer using the Second Amendment as their covering, while others are elated they can now hide behind the SCOTUS’ interpretation of the 14th Amendment.

    Yes, it’s true. Everyone, everywhere, whether they know it or not, has a favorite hiding place. 

    And yes, this Christian has found God, specifically His Son Jesus Christ, to be the best place to hide. He left His place of comfort and security so I could have a place to hide from the wages of sin.

    Hiding behind God through the power of the cross and the glorious resurrection doesn’t make sense.

    But it does make a difference in a person’s life.

    Both now and forever.

    “You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.” (Psalm 32:7 ESV)

    “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.” (Psalm 46:1-3 ESV)

    “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1-2 ESV)

    “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:11-14 ESV)

  • The Closet

    It seems like the world is all geared up for house cleaning. Do you know what I mean?

    When I was a teenager, my little brother, who is nine years younger, had a messy closet. From time to time I had the chore of “helping” him clean it out.

    You wouldn’t believe the things we’d find in the closet.

    Toys, socks, books, more toys, and lots of miscellaneous articles of clothing.

    By the time “we” were finished, the closet would be nice and neat, but the bedroom would be a wreck.

    Kind of like today.

    The closet is getting cleared out, but now the junk is everywhere.

    Quite frankly, I think it would have been just fine for the closet to stay messy.

    But that’s not how people are.

    We like to think we know best about everything. We’re happy with our choices, especially if we can get everyone to agree with us.

    So instead of peeking into our closet full of questionable and messy things, we take the closet door off its hinges so everyone can see what we’ve allowed to grow in the dark room.

    Only now, and unlike my chore of years ago, rather than properly disposing of the junk and odd socks, people expect everyone else to applaud the mess they’ve made.

    They parade their closet junk in front of everyone, just daring someone to tell them it’s wrong.

    They want people to affirm their closet lifestyle as the norm.

    But you know what? I’m not going to affirm the closet stuff as good, or normal, or the way God made them.

    Why? Because it isn’t the norm.

    It’s only the mess from the closet.

  • A Timely Word

    “For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17 ESV)

    You may say, “Peter wrote that letter a long time ago. It doesn’t pertain to this day and age.”

    Wrong. It has everything to do with the church of the twenty first century.

    Especially today’s church.

    “God judging His church? Really?”

    He did it in the Book of Revelation, didn’t He?
    But consider this: if you and I will judge ourselves, we won’t need to be judged by the Lord. 

    Here’s a word I believe is from the Lord. It’s the same word He placed in my heart a few months ago, a word I’ve preached, taught, and have written a book about.

    In essence, here’s what I hear Him say:

    Because the day is so late, and nighttime will soon settle upon this last days generation, it is time for My people to examine their lives. 

    Do you find yourself struggling with lust, pride, greed, or other things that wars against faith and confidence in Me? 

    Have you grown to love the world and all it has to offer?

    Are you ashamed of Me?

    Arm yourselves with the mind of Christ. Take My words and let them be your sole support, confidence, and life. 

    As I have said, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’, so I have instructed you to build your life upon everything, and only, what I tell you.

    The mind of Christ will be your wisdom, your sanctification, your confidence and courage. It will keep you from sin, and give you the ability to help others become free as well.

    Your flesh will rebel, screaming bloody murder. But those who ignore the temper tantrums of their flesh will find new strength and fresh grace in these final days.

    Judgment always begins with My people, for I want only the best for them. And as they partake of My best, they will have something to give away.

    It is time for My people to be as the Apostle Peter, as he spoke to the lame man in Acts, chapter three: “It’s not our money you so desperately need. You need that which Jesus Christ has given us.”
    So arm yourselves, be ready when either temptation or opportunity comes knocking. Arm yourselves with the mind of Christ. For those who do will find victory and joy in serving Me.

    Brethren, I believe the time is short. We have just enough time left to do God’s will.
    Nothing extra.
    Let’s make certain we’re prepared to finish well.

    Those who are armed well will finish well.

  • It Is Now

    If there was ever a time to arm ourselves with the mind of Christ, it is now.

    If there was ever a time to throw off the things of this world that keep us from doing God’s will, it is now. 

    If there was ever a time to settle in our hearts exactly who’s the Lord of our lives, it is now.

    Now is the time to act on the truth we’ve embraced. It’s the time to hold fast to our confession, our confidence, and our courage.

    We can, we must, do all things through Christ Who gives us strength.

    If there was ever a time to make our message clear and concise, it is now.

    If there was ever a time to rely upon the power of God, it is now.

    If there was EVER a time to humble ourselves, seek His face, and do exactly what He says, it is now.

    We’ve waited long enough. We’ve tried everything else.

    But our cute comments, sharp sayings, and timely tweets haven’t penetrated society’s skin. 

    Debates, arguments, and name calling haven’t won the masses. Compromising truth for the sake of getting along hasn’t compelled anyone to trade darkness for light.

    It’s time.

    For light to reveal, love to appeal, and God’s truth to define right and wrong.

    In ourselves first, then possibly the world.

    If there was ever a time when the conscience of a nation needed to witness believers who believe something enough to make it their life, it is now.

    If there was ever a time to love righteousness and hate unrighteousness, it is now.

    It’s time to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done”, and expect God to move. Act. Answer.

    In our lives, first.

    Yes, if there was ever a time…

    …it is now.

  • Puppets and People

    Have you ever watched a puppet show? The shows where the puppets are worked by strings? Marionettes, I believe they’re called.

    Marionettes are quite fascinating to watch. Especially when you’re far enough away that you can’t see the strings. It appears the puppets are acting on their own; dancing, twirling, bowing, and skipping.

    I see a resemblance between puppets and people. Puppets only do what they are manipulated to do.

    And that’s exactly what people do.

    So you think I’ve gone off the deep end?

    Follow me for just a few moments.

    People call themselves free thinkers; those who believe they alone control their lives. They think for themselves; no one influences their opinion.

    But they aren’t free thinkers at all. They’re actually under the control of the god of this world, the devil.
    Manipulated.

    Please stay with me just a bit longer.

    When God created mankind, there were no strings attached. 

    None.

    Man was given instructions, but he was allowed to make his own decisions.

    Man chose wrong. 

    THAT’S when the strings became attached. And ever since, man has been manipulated by the one whose only desire is to steal, kill, and destroy.

    A dark, evil, rebellious nature replaced the one Adam was initially given. That nature is directly tied to the nature of the evil one himself.

    People lie because it’s their nature. They steal for the same reason. Murder is simply the result of unrestrained lust, greed, hatred, or some other emotion or desire.

    And it’s tied to the puppet master.

    The devil.

    But Jesus cut the strings!

    People are screaming these days about freedom. They demand to be allowed to live the way they want.

    And that’s why Jesus came!

    “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience – among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.” (Ephesians 2:1-3 ESV)

    “…By nature…like the rest of mankind.”

    It’s one thing to sit and enjoy a puppet show. But it’s another thing altogether when you’re the puppet.

    Are you tired of the way you’ve been dancing lately? Have you wondered how your life will end; after the show is over?

    It’s time for the strings to be cut!

    “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved – and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:4-8 ESV)

    When Jesus went to the cross for our sins, our rebellious nature, He broke the devil’s right of ownership and control.

    By faith in Jesus, and obedience to His word, we find ourselves with a brand new owner, a brand new nature, and brand new life!

    “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)

    We GET to walk with the Creator of the universe; the Lover of our soul.

    “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10 ESV)

    “Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8 ESV)

    “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:12 ESV)

    Puppets and people. So much alike. No wonder we can become so entangled with ourselves we can no longer think or act straight.

    No wonder.

    But he whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

  • The Point Of No Return

    Are you aware that today someone will do something they never thought they’d do?
    If you’d asked them a year earlier, “Do you ever see yourself doing thus and so?”, like stealing, raping, cheating on their spouse, or even murdering, they would’ve undoubtedly answered, “No way!”
    But today they’ll do it. 

    Brand new sexual addictions will begin today. New addictions to drugs and/or alcohol will wrap their hellish chains around some poor soul as well.

    Today.

    And someone will take a step toward new levels of violence; even to the point of murder.

    Today.

    Not planned. It just happens.

    Or does it?

    There are things which I have done that I would have sworn I’d never do.

    But I did them. 

    How about you?

    Think of people you’ve read about in the history books; Hitler, Stalin, and others. Adolph began life as an innocent child, but ended as an evil, demon possessed maniac.

    Ted Bundy wasn’t born a murderer. He BECAME one, one bad choice at a time.

    Again, how about you?

    Are you aware that every living soul is capable of committing atrocities even more heinous than those of Hitler or Bundy?

    I realize it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

    “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?” (Jeremiah 17:9 NLT)

    (Hint: ask God)

    Wickedness grows to uncontrollable proportions when we allow little compromises to pass unchecked. When our mind excuses wrong behavior because it doesn’t seem “that” bad, or it has become sociably acceptable, we don’t realize just how close we are to the point of no return.

    “That sure sounds ominous…”

    Welcome to the macabre.

    Imagine a stick of dynamite. Let it represent the evil you believe you are incapable of doing.

    Light the fuse, but just for a moment. Now quickly extinguish it. Whew! Great, no evil done.

    Now, let it be lit again, and again, and again…

    No problem! Each time it is extinguished before anything really bad happens.

    Until one day…

    KKKKAAAABBBBOOOOOOOOMMMM!

    You’ve just reached the point of no return.

    And that’s how the progression goes for those have had their lives and eternities destroyed.

    That’s the point in a life that Paul talked about in Romans, chapter one:

    “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. THEREFORE GOD GAVE THEM OVER in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

    “For this reason GOD GAVE THEM OVER to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

    “And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, GOD GAVE THEM OVER to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.” (Romans 1:18-32 NASB)

    God gave them over…

    Though He never intended for His creation to be subjected to His wrath, they reached the point of no return; one action, one thought, one compromise at a time.

    What are you doing about your own life?

    How many times do you think you can light the fuse and get away with it?

    Don’t bet on it.

  • What’s Wrong With This Country?

    “Long may our land be bright, with freedom’s holy light, protect us by thy might, great God our King.”

    This is a word for people who want to blame all of our country’s woes on everyone but themselves.

    I will say up front I don’t think every person in each of the groups I’ve listed believes or acts like I’ve portrayed. However, there are a lot of people who have no problem in lumping everyone under the same heading.

    Especially if it’s someone they don’t agree with. 

    So, please try and get past the “but I’m a ___________  and I don’t think like that” frustration. I’m only trying to make a point.

    The liberals blame the conservatives, who, in turn, blast back with their righteous guns blazing. The heterosexual is mad at the homosexual for stealing the rainbow, and the homosexual tries to cram the “One Man and One Woman” back into the closet they just came out of.

    The white man disparages the black, and the black man believes that whites are racist. The brown and yellow? They get in the act from time to time.

    Christians KNOW they aren’t the ones who’ve messed up the country, and are quick to explain who’s to blame.

    People who don’t give two hoots about God or faith point their accusing fingers at the people who hide behind their religion, and can’t think for themselves.

    It’s kind of a mess, isn’t it?

    Who’s really to blame for the condition of this country? 

    Well, maybe I should ask a different question to begin with.

    What’s wrong with this country?

    We have plenty of resources, yet the county is in a financial mess.

    There are thousands of churches, but the nation’s morals keep reaching new, lower levels.

    The safety net of welfare has been transformed into a generational curse. The land of opportunity has turned into the land of entitlement.

     

    JFK’s famous, “Ask not what what your country can do for you; but what you can do for your country”, has been erased from the history books. Now the phrase is, “America, you owe me!”

     

    We have the name of God on our money, but not on our lips. He’s mentioned in our sporting events, but not in our schools. We call on Him in times of crisis, blame Him for His lack of protection against crime and cancer, and yet we won’t let Him get a word in edgewise.

    We love to be in control of our life, but won’t accept the blame for our great job of mishandling it.

    All the while God says, “Turn to Me.”

    “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.” (Isaiah 59:1-2 ESV)

    What’s wrong with this country? 

    I am. You are. WE are what’s wrong with this country.

    The wrong things we do are what’s wrong with this country.

    God does not hear people who are bent on doing things their own way; doggedly determined to live without the influence from some “Higher Power”.

    God does not hear people full of pride.

    God does not hear this nation’s demand for equality and justice, when in fact, equality and justice have become a farce.

    However, God DOES hear the cry of the repentant, the voice of the humble, and the praise of those truly thankful.

    Thankful for Him, and thankful for the nation He has given to some 315 million people.

     

    What’s wrong with this country? Nothing God can’t fix…His way.

     

  • The Lot Affect

    With all of the chitchat going on about gay rights and such, I thought it would be nice if we could have a little discussion about a guy who lived years ago, surrounded by an extremely wicked culture.

    I’m referring to Lot; Abraham’s nephew.

     

    Through the years Lot has taken a lot of abuse from preachers and laymen alike.

     

    “Lot is the perfect example of compromise”, some will say.

    “Lot didn’t deserve to be delivered from the Lord’s judgment”, others will say, using their best, righteous sounding voice.

    I ask you, “Who DOES deserve God’s deliverance?”

    No one.

    And while I’m at it, please understand Sodom and Gomorrah weren’t destroyed because they advocated, endorsed, entertained, or even practiced homosexuality. 

    That’s not what the bible says.

    “…Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire…” (Jude 1:7 ESV)

    Homosexuality was only PART of the issue.

    “Sexual immorality and unnatural desire” included the “gay” lifestyle along with other sexual perversions – bestiality, anal sex, group sex, sex with children, and other things I’ve never heard of or wouldn’t want to mention.

    Extreme wickedness.

    But let’s get back to Lot.

    Before Lot moved to the luscious and fertile plains, he lived at least 15 years with his uncle Abraham. 15 years living with one of God’s best friends. I believe at least some of Abraham’s faith rubbed off on young Lot.

    “But he compromised his faith by moving to a wicked community”, you may say.

    Isn’t that what they said about Jesus?

    It’s definitely what the Pharisees said.

    Please allow me to play the “what if card”. Could it be Lot had noble intentions by moving to Sodom? Like a missionary moving to a certain city to bring hope and the Kingdom of God to the city; that COULD have been Lot’s intent.

    In fact, Lot COULD have been given a specific, God ordained mission. Remember, the Lord is not willing that anyone perish. He wants ALL to come to the knowledge of truth and repentance.

     

    God sends people like you and I, people like Jonah, and people such as Lot into places of trouble and wickedness.

     

    So, if Lot had a God given reason for living in such a rotten area, why didn’t he get the city turned around?

    Thinking about Lot, myself, and my Lord, I’ve come to the following conclusions; which I refer to as The Lot Affect.

    1. Whether it is Moses, Jonah, Lot, or Jesus Himself, the mission is to be a witness. No one can make people believe and change; not even the Lord.

    2. Standing against opposition is never easy. By opposition, I mean people disagreeing with you, arguing and demeaning you; to where you begin to feel like an idiot. You either want to give up, get mad and get even, or a little of both.

    3. Your stand for righteousness can be worn down by the extremely wicked society. But keep your mind fixed on Jesus, His love and power, and your mission.

    Notice: “and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.” (2 Peter 2:7-9 ESV)

    4. If we stand for truth, we will be delivered from wickedness.

    5. Righteousness is rewarded. So is unrighteousness.

    Just different rewards, that’s all.

    6. When the wicked citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah watched Lot and his family get in their car and leave town, I’m sure they rejoiced!

    Remember how they said to Lot, “This fellow came to sojourn, and he has become the judge“? (Genesis 19:9 ESV)

    7. Don’t expect to see eye to eye with people who don’t have the same convictions. Expect them to be intolerant and belittling.

    And although your soul is vexed, and the crowd continues to eat, drink, and party…

    …it’s nothing new.

    “Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot – they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all – so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.” (Luke 17:28-30)

    When the Son is revealed, and He will be, nothing else will matter.

    In the meantime, remember The Lot Affect.

  • Mister Big

    In my sixty years of living on this blue orb we call Earth, I’ve met just a few people I’d describe as big. I mean BIG.

    Of course, there are different ways of measuring people.

    When I was in grade school I met a man known as the Wilson Giant. He was skinny and 8′ 2″ tall. To a kid who was only 4 1/2 feet tall, that was BIG.

    I was privileged to shake hands with another big guy almost 20 years ago. The late Reggie White, of Eagles and Packers fame. Wow! My hand was swallowed up by his.

    While in the U.S. Army I met a couple of Israeli generals, while they were visiting the missile site I was working at.

    Big men, in a military sense.

    I met our state’s Governor a year or so ago. Governor Terry Branstad.

    A big man, politically.

    BIG can be impressive, but don’t think for a moment that BIG equals great.

    Or even good.
    There are people who act big, but never amount to anything more than an annoyance. Blab, blab, blab all day long about their accomplishments.

    “I’m going to do thus and so, I did this and that. You should have seen me shut that guy up!”

    It kind of reminds me of a guy who’s been trying to be BIG for ages and ages. Ever since the thought was birthed in his heart and mind, he has attempted to be BIG.

    Though he’ll NEVER be BIG in the way he’s dreamed of, in my opinion he HAS reached the status of Mister Big in a lot of other areas of life.

    He IS the BIGGEST:

    Abscess – for once he gets under your skin, your life becomes poisoned.

    Bully – he always has to have his own way.

    Con – always has an angle; all for his advantage.

    Deceiver – smoke and mirrors, never the whole truth, nothing but the truth.

    Enemy – basically the ONLY enemy to mankind.

    Failure – he was created for greatness, but threw it all away. He will NEVER amount to anything good.

    Gainsayer – forever contradicting God’s word.

    Hellion – self-explanatory

    Ignoramus – he’s limited to his own devices. Does not have access to God’s wisdom.

    Jailbird – though still at large, his days of incarceration are on the way.

    Killer – it’s one of the things he does better than anyone.

    Liar – and the father of lies. Every time his lips move…

    Manipulator – he applies pressure to our weaknesses. “You can’t live without this…”
    Nut – he actually believes he can beat God. Insane.

    Organizer – of strife, discord, hatred, and rebellion against God.

    Pretender – Paul even referred to him as an angel of light.

    Quack – a charlatan, the great pretender.

    Risk – if you take your chances with this guy, you’re playing the worst odds.

    Segregationist – he always promotes isolation, discord, and bigotry.

    Thief – he steals, kills, and destroys. Always.

    Un – unscrupulous, unprincipled, undesirable, and undeserving of any praise.

    Vicious – he’s out for only one thing… his own way.

    Wanton – lewd, perverted, and the author of such things.

    X – someday he’ll be the biggest has-been of the universe.

    Yellow – his true color. He hides behind the deeds of others to fight his war with God.

    Zany – I don’t know how else to explain such illogical behavior.
    Mister Big. The devil, adversary, killer and thief.

    Yep, he’s big alright.

    But only in his dreams.
