What is happening to our nation?

“In God We Trust”

Those words have been on all U.S. currency since 1957. Which seems a bit odd to me.

Because ever since that time, this nation has steadily increased its trust in everything BUT God.

However, I don’t believe God is ready to throw in the towel, or ignore those who call on His Name in intercession for this land.

There’s something taking place behind the scenes. No, I’m not referring to back room planning of the RNC or the DNC.

I’m talking about things God is doing, and will continue to do, in the spirit realm.

Two thousand years ago the writer of Hebrews told of a day somewhere in the future when God would shake the heavens and the earth.

“See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.’ Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.” (Hebrews 12:25 – 12:29 NKJV)

Notice “Whose voice then shook the earth…” Not only was the ground shaken, but so were the people; their emotions and self-confidence. They realized just how insignificant they were compared to the Almighty God.

He’s doing the same thing today. We’re seeing some early signs of it, in my opinion.

Regardless of who is elected President of the United States, I think everyone can agree this nation won’t be the same.

No candidate, whether it be Trump, Clinton, Johnson, or anyone else, can turn things around.

Why? Because social issues, the economy, ISIS, immigration reform, racism, lack of respect for authority, nor anything else, is the problem.

The problem is that people have tossed God aside.

It’s gonna get worse before it gets better (if it gets better).

As a nation, we’ve placed our hope and trust in everything but God. We’ve trusted in our riches, our heritage, our freedoms, and have demanded our “God given rights”, though our hearts have wandered far from the God Who gave us those rights.

All those things we glued our fingers to are going to shake, rattle, and roll until we can no longer hang on to them.

We’ll have to grasp something much stronger, something unshakable, if we are to survive.

Maybe I’d better clarify something. I don’t necessarily mean the nation will or won’t survive. I’m just saying it’s not going to be pretty, AND there’s more to life than just being an American. Someday, each of us will stand before God, not as Americans, but as individuals who must give an account for our life.

Did we truly trust in Jesus?

God is not willing that anyone perish, but that all should come to eternal life. That’s what He’s after; our souls.

Unless we let loose of all the other things we’ve placed our hope and trust in, we cannot truly trust Him.

A shaking is on the way. We’ve pretty much demanded it. We’ve failed to heed His voice, so now His voice will shake the heavens and the earth.

How can we make it through?

By doing what we should have done in the first place. “Have grace…”

Grace which is measured out to each of us through God’s Word.

Grace which is God’s willingness to use His power and ability on our behalf; we who turn our eyes and heart to the Author and Perfecter of our faith.

What’s happening to our nation?

God.

Watch and see.

But above all, trust. Trust in God.

Anyone with ears to hear must listen…

image

“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches…” (Revelation 2:7 NLT)

Hear the cry of the Lord to the Church of Jesus Christ, especially the American church.

“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit…”

Hearing, listening, and understanding is critical to survival and effective ministry in these last days.

Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from the mouth of God (Matt 4:4).” In other words, we’ll live if we hear, listen, and understand what the Lord is saying at this very moment.

“But I’ve never been very good at hearing God!”

Maybe you’ve never been taught how to distinguish God’s voice from all the other voices around you.

In John chapter 10 Jesus talks about His sheep knowing His voice and not listening to any other. 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 states we are children of light and should walk accordingly, not allowing the darkness to overtake us.

In order to hear God’s voice there are several things you must do, if you’re going to be able to discern truth from error (God’s Spirit, or voices which CLAIM to be from God).

1. Read, study, memorize, APPLY God’s word. Do that which you know to do. Do it now, and always.

Determine to be a doer of His Word (written or otherwise) BEFORE you hear what He has to say!

2. Be in community with other followers of Christ. God gives individual assignments, but He’ll never contradict His Word. Having godly relationships helps us watch out for one another.

3. Receive reproof and correction. God won’t only speak of great and glorious things; but He’ll always speak as a loving Father.

He’ll show you where you’ve messed up, but also give you hope and a way to correct your error.

Remember Jesus’ words to the seven churches…”I know your works…there are things I like, and things you need to change…”?

4. Guard your heart. Be very picky about what you listen to, watch, talk, and think about. And no, it’s not because you won’t look like a Christian. It’s because things contrary to God’s word, if allowed to come into your spirit unchecked and unrestrained, will cause your ability to be sensitive to God’s voice to diminish to the point of spiritual deafness.

5. Determine to love what He loves, and hate what He hates.
“You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.” (Hebrews 1:9 NLT)

These words were spoken about Jesus, but should apply to anyone who claims to be His disciple.

6. Expect to be led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14-16). It’s not only your privilege, it could very well mean your life, and the life of those around you.

7. Set aside your own opinions and solutions. Allow God’s word, His voice, to change your mind.

“Trust in the Lord…in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5,6

What would happen if EVERY believer did just that? What if we all had ears to hear, listen and understand what the Spirit is saying?

Church, we MUST hear, or we will surely miss out on what He wants to accomplish in this nation!

We MUST hear and obey the voice of the Spirit, even if it goes crosswise with our opinion.

We MUST understand what He is saying to the churches.

He knows what it will take to bring in the harvest.

He understands what needs to happen to shake the powers of darkness, and to release those bound by unclean and vile spirits.

He has the answer for EVERY trick of the enemy!

And He even knows what it will take to make this nation great again.

(By the way, making America great again really isn’t a priority to God).

Do YOU belong to Jesus? Do you have ears to hear? Can you listen and understand what the Spirit is saying to the churches?

And are you ready for action?

The Spirit of God says, “It’s time.”

Lawlessness – the Spirit of the Age

image

The spirit of antichrist is becoming more and more prominent.

Lawlessness. “I can pick and choose which laws, if any, I will keep.”

Is it any wonder so many police officers are being targeted and killed?

Lawlessness.

The spirit of the age.

“Oh, brother!”

“Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:1 – 2:12 NKJV)

Yes, there is coming a day when the man known as Antichrist will come on the world scene as, first of all, Mister Fix-It. He’ll bring peace to the nations, and right all the wrongs societies are facing at this time.

However, it’s only a temporary fix.

Mister Fix-It’s true character isn’t one of peace and stability. He’s not interested in anyone’s welfare except his own.

The lawless one. Satan incarnate. The man of sin.

The apostle John made this statement many years ago: “Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.” (1 John 2:18 NKJV)

If that was the last hour, I have to believe this is the last part of the last hour.

And I see the spirit of lawlessness pervading throughout this land; this world. From the highest sectors of government, to the thug on the street, lawlessness.

Sure, they obey SOME laws. But only as it suits them. If the law gets in the way of their agenda, forget it.

It’s happening in all areas of our society. Moral lawlessness.

At home, on the job, driving on the highway, within a marriage; if we like the law, or it serves our purpose, we obey.

But we still may be lawless in our heart.

We may agree with God as long as He allows us to do as we please.

But the real test is when He, or someone else stands up to us and says, “No!”

The spirit of antichrist, the spirit of lawlessness, is behind the police shootings, racial tension, LGBT “rights”, and many other societal ills we face today.

It’s even within some of our churches.

The time is later than we’d like to imagine. But like it or not, the Antichrist will appear to a world ready to receive him.

Such an evil dude accepted as a man of peace?

Sure. Why not. Our world is becoming just like him.

Brothers and sisters in Christ: now’s the time to wake up. Shake off any signs of lawlessness that may be part of your life.

For Jesus is coming again.

Don’t be caught up in the spirit of the age.

Lawlessness.

Here’s why there are less perverts in the world.

image

Many folks believe the world is a greater, much better, place to live these days.

“Things are much better than before”, they’ll say. “People are more tolerant of one another, and mankind is finally outgrowing their need for a god of some kind.”

“But what about the condition of a person’s heart?”, I ask. “Nothing seems to have changed. People appear to be more tolerant of perverts than ever before.”

“You’re looking at everything all wrong”, I’m quickly reminded. “Statistics prove there are less rapes, less sexual crimes, and even extramarital affairs haven’t increased much over the past twenty years. When people are allowed to express their true selves, there is less reason to be uptight.”

“People are showing greater respect for diversity. Mankind is finally realizing they have the power within themselves to make the world a better place.”

Nice tune, but I don’t buy it. It doesn’t play well when compared with the original record. Mankind is not evolving into perfection.

But I do believe there are less perverts, less perversion, in the world today; and I’ll tell you why.

I looked at these areas of society; things that are are commonly accepted as good.

Language of people conversing while walking in a public mall.

Advertising campaigns.

Men’s and women’s fashions.

What people refer to as entertainment.

Educational standards.

Just to name a few.

After thinking about those things, I went to the dictionary:

Pervert – a person who has sunk below the normal moral standard.

Did it smack you in the face like it did me?

The world has less perverts these days for one reason; the standard has been lowered!

It’s not because man is getting better. It’s not that we’re finally figuring out this thing called life.

And why do we keep lowering the standard?

Because man still believes they can make a utopian world without God.

Ask them, they’ll tell you.

Or better yet, read the bible.

“…They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.” (Romans 1:19 – 1:23 NLT)

Truthfully, it’s easy to see just how far we are from the Creator’s intent.

But these days, truth isn’t very highly received, much less believed.

So that’s why there are less perverts in the world.

By the way, we not only live in accordance with our beliefs, we also die in the same manner.

Wanna talk about it? Let’s!

Where will you be on that great and terrible day?

image

If you were alive on September 11, 2001, and living in the United States of America, chances are you know exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news about airplanes flying into the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

I was at work, at the West Des Moines Post Office, on the workroom floor (the southeast corner of the room, when one of the letter carriers told me some idiot just flew his plane into a building in New York City.

There have been other times in recent history when tragedy struck our nation; times when we probably can recall what was going on in our lives.

On November 22, 1963, I was sitting in my fourth grade classroom at Casady Elementary School when the news of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy came across the school’s public address system.

There have been a number of notable days, but none can compare to the Great and Terrible Day which was prophesied by Joel.

“Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. And I will cause wonders in the heavens and on the earth – blood and fire and columns of smoke. The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and terrible day of the Lord arrives.” (Joel 2:28 – 2:31 NLT)

Whether he was referring to a particular day, or a series of days, make no mistake about it; it’s going to happen.

When? I don’t know. But I do know it’s closer than yesterday.

Where will you be? What will you be doing?

Life has a way of startling us at times, don’t you think? A lot of things happen that take us totally by surprise. There’s no way to plan for them, so we simply have to do our best and cope.

But that great and terrible day shouldn’t take anyone by surprise. Why? Because we’ve all been warned!

Oh, there’s a lot more said about that day, and you can read all about it if you just take the time to do so.

And if you would, you’d eventually discover the only way to know EXACTLY where you’ll be and what you’ll be doing when that day arrives.

I’ll give you a hint…

“And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God’s Son from heaven – Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment.” (1 Thessalonians 1:10 NLT)

The Lord has delivered His people from the wrath to come. So I already know where I WON’T be on that day.

Believe me, folks, I’m not trying to scare the hell out of you, but I am hoping the truth just may scare you out of a hell-filled eternity.

So maybe I am.

Like it or not, believe it or not…it’s going to happen. The United Nations can’t stop it, the Pope can’t stop it, and neither can the Rothchild’s, Rockefeller’s or Buffet’s.

Money, legislation, nor the Boy Scouts can do anything to delay it.

You might want to give this subject a little more time than you have up to this point.

Go ahead, turn off the TV, your smartphone, and your video games. Open up a bible and do a search regarding the End Times. Read about the coming Great Tribulation, (earthquakes that will rival the earth’s great upheaval during the beginning days of the Great Flood).

It’s all in there, and it’s all gonna happen.

So, once more, where will you be?

If you’re not sure, let’s talk about it.

Lightning Man

I learned something today that has set my mind to thinking.

Our President, Mr. Barak Hussein Obama, has a biblical first name. You’ll find it in Judges 4 and 5.

Barak. It means “lightning” or “lightning flash“.

Did you already know that little bit of news? Yes? No? So what, you say?

Well, here’s what. It’s common knowledge that names CAN be prophetic, or describe certain characteristics about someone. The prophet Isaiah’s kids, bless their hearts, had some of the weirdest names ever typed on a birth certificate. The eldest son, Shear-Jashub, was blessed with his name (meaning “a remnant shall return”) compared to the second son, Mahershalalhashbaz, meaning “speed the spoil, hasten the booty”. I can’t imagine the kid’s first day in school, can you?

Abraham’s name meant “father of a multitude”, prophetically spoken over Abraham before Isaac was born.

Perhaps our president’s name is a prophecy for this season. Lightning. Lightning flash.

In Exodus, immediately before the Lord descended in a thick cloud upon Mount Sinai, thunder and lightning preceded His holy appearance.

Psalm 77:18 speaks of lightning coming before the shaking of the earth. “The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook.” (Psalm 77:18 ESV)

Hebrews 12 tells us of a coming day when everything that CAN be shaken, WILL be shaken, so that “the things that cannot be shaken may remain” (Hebrews 12:25-27 ESV). Is that day upon us, when the earth not only will be shaken, but the heavens as well?

Is Barak a sign of the closing of this age?

Many times, where’s there’s lightning there’s also rain. Throughout scripture, rain typifies the outpouring of God’s Spirit. For instance, Hosea 6, Joel 2, and Acts 2.

“When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.” (Jeremiah 10:13 ESV)

Wind is also used to describe the presence of the Holy Spirit. Ezekiel 37, Acts 2, Exodus 14.

Could it be that these are the days of lightning, thunder, and rain? A coming storm of judgment, and, at the same time, an outpouring of God’s Spirit upon those who will be saved?

Lightning – falling, flashing, signifying a specific time period.

“The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!’ And he said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.'” (Luke 10:17-18 ESV)

“And he said to the disciples, ‘The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. And they will say to you, ‘Look, there!’ or ‘Look, here!’ Do not go out or follow them. For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.'” (Luke 17:22-24 ESV)

Well?

Okay. So maybe my exegesis isn’t the greatest, and maybe I’m way off.

Maybe it’s a coincidence that Barak Hussein Obama seemed to suddenly come out of nowhere, like lightning in the sky, to become the kind of president this nation has never seen the likes of. A president who seems to delight in shaking things up.

It’s possible.

But all the same, I’m going to keep my eyes and ears open; and my heart tuned to God.

There just may be a trumpet blowing soon.

People And Their Guns

Did you know there’s coming a day when all guns will be a thing of the past? Just a faint, distant memory, if even that.

Just the thought of that is enough to throw some into a mild panic.

Now before you get mad, ranting and raving about my liberal viewpoint, please finish reading this post. It may not be what you’re thinking.

It’s been said, guns don’t kill, people kill. It’s also been said, guns can protect people from people who kill. The truth is, some people use guns to kill, people and/or animals, while others use guns to protect themselves against people and/or animals.

But what if everyone, everywhere, were forced to lay down their guns, EXCEPT those who ONLY use theirs for hunting game? And those who are allowed to keep theirs MUST PROMISE TO NEVER use the gun to hurt a human being?

Notice I said EVERYONE and EVERYWHERE.

No more killing people with guns. People who still want to kill would have to choose a different plan of attack. Like use a knife, for instance. At least a knife would be easier to defend against. And I’ve never heard of an automatic knife. Have you?

So why wouldn’t that work?

Some say that the money grabbing gun manufacturers wouldn’t stand for such a law. Others are quick to post pictures of Hitler, Stalin, and Obama demanding all guns be surrendered.

But what would be wrong with that?

The thing that’s wrong with that is, guns aren’t the problem at all! No, the problem is just plain, ordinary, run of the mill, PEOPLE.

People like you and I.

And because it’s a people problem, people can’t be trusted to do the right thing.

They can’t be trusted to always think straight, control their temper, or act in a way that would possibly diffuse a volatile situation. They can’t all be trusted to use their guns in a responsible manner.
They can’t be expected to ALWAYS make the best decision, or NEVER have an accident.

Because people act like people. Always.

And too often guns are needed to protect people from people.

But what if it COULD be accomplished?

Just think; no more guns, legal or otherwise, being fired by people at people, regardless of whether the shooter or victim is good or bad. No more San Bernardino massacres, nor more Columbines, no more gun accidents within the homes of good people. No more armed robberies by bad people.

Remember, it’s a people issue.

But people, good and bad, don’t want to give up their guns. Now this may not sit too well, what I’m about to say, but I think people don’t want to give up their guns because they’re in love with them.

Blast those nasty Chinese anyway, for inventing such a terrible thing as gunpowder.

Oh, I forgot to mention; the Chinese are people.

Back to people. I didn’t say there was anything wrong with it; but can’t we be honest? People love their guns. It’s what people do. We love things that can sometimes be used for good and sometimes for bad.

May not be a gun; could be a car. And cars have been used to kill PEOPLE.

But back to people and their guns…

Am I advocating a complete, across the board surrender of ALL guns everywhere?

Yes. It would simplify things greatly, IF everyone could be trusted.

Am I proposing all weapons be destroyed and never manufactured again?

Yes. Again, IF each person could be trusted.

Do I think it will ever happen?

Yes! I know it will.

BUT NOT because people can be trusted.

People CAN’T be trusted.

But I know it will happen because I’m not the only one who’s sick and tired of all the killing; senseless or otherwise. And the One Who’s going to make certain all weapons ARE destroyed isn’t Obama, Clinton, or some Muslim terrorist regime. After all, they’re just people.

No, I’m referring to God Almighty; He’ll get it done. But not until this planet’s people are forever changed into His likeness, and can be trusted to act and respond as He would.

So you might as well begin easing up a bit with your affection for guns, or anything else that’s going to melt with fervent heat (including cars) as mentioned by the Apostle Peter in 2 Peter 3:11,12.

Because a greater problem than guns, or people using guns to kill, is upon us. The thing that gets us all in trouble. The reason Jesus came in the first place.

People loving things instead of loving, really loving and obeying, the living God.

But it’s going to happen, some day; and I can hardly wait!

“‘The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,’ says the Lord.” (Isaiah 65:25 ESV)

“It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and it shall be lifted up above the hills;and peoples shall flow to it, and many nations shall come, and say:

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between many peoples, and shall decide for strong nations far away; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore; but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.” (Micah 4:1-4 ESV)

Can The NSA Stop End Time Prophecies?

I guess I’m just wondering out loud, as I do quite often these days.

I was watching the republican presidential debate the other night and some of their comments got me to mulling over a few ideas in my head.

Mainly, can the NSA stop end time prophecies from happening?

The NSA (National Security Agency) is pretty much responsible for monitoring all electronic communications, coded and cryptic messages, etc; anything and everything that could pose a threat to our national security.

I’d say they have their hands full.

But why the question?

Scripture teaches that in the end time evil men (and women) will grow worse and worse (2 Timothy 3:13).

“Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:12-13 ESV)

Deception breeds deception. Evil begets evil. Bad people do bad things, and evil folks do even worse.

And so it will be in the end time, which I believe is right at our doorstep.

Good will be persecuted by evil to such a degree evil will believe it has won. “Deceiving and being deceived” spells it out pretty clear.

Mark it down, we haven’t seen anything yet!

Mild tremors of persecution are beginning to rumble throughout the earth, though in some nations the persecution of the righteous is in full force.

The evil one has a taste in his mouth for the blood of the righteous and won’t stop until he’s had his fill, or until he’s forced to.

Deceiving and being deceived. He actually thinks he’s going to win!

I don’t know how persecution of the righteous will come to the United States, but I believe it is coming.

And no, being told to remove a nativity scene, take down the Ten Commandments, or not being allowed to mention God at a High School graduation ceremony is NOT persecution.

Nor is it when a certain coffee shop doesn’t use the word “Christmas” on their cups.

But real, hard felt persecution is coming to those who won’t compromise their righteous walk with God.

And I don’t believe the NSA can stop it.

No matter how many phones are tapped, or how closely they monitor the millions of emails sent each and every day; the end time prophecies are going to happen.

They can fly thousands of drones over our cities, each equipped with the latest spy cameras and ultra sensitive microphones, yet nothing will alter the end time persecution of the righteous.

I’m not saying it’s going to be ISIS, or any other particular terrorist group. But mark my word, it will be a group of people who are deceiving and being deceived.

It COULD even be our own government!

Isn’t that something to look forward to?

Can I offer you a little bit of advice?

Don’t worry about it. Plan on doing the right thing, regardless. Determine to walk with God whether you are in the fiery furnace or the lion’s den. Make up your mind whether the government loves you or not, you’re going to walk with God.

Even if your presidential candidate isn’t elected, make it your aim to please God in all you do.

Paul said his “light affliction” (that’s what he called it) did something more than just make life hard. What light affliction was he referring to?

Nothing more than beatings, shipwrecks, nakedness, a stoning or four; you know, light afflictions.

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18 ESV)

Persecution and hard times aren’t what anyone really wants to think about.

Ever.

But you’d better think about it, and prepare for it.

Prepare by walking with the Lord Jesus NOW; no matter how many people think you’re nuts.

Yes, the NSA will do their best to keep this nation as safe and secure as they possibly can. But that WON’T keep persecution away from those who have decided that, come hell or high water, they ARE the righteous ones in Christ and they’re going to live as such.

Go for it!

And I’ll see you on the other side!

Bloody Moons

IMG_7747

There are scriptural references to the moon turning blood red before the notable day of the Lord.

Please notice:

“And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.” (Acts 2:20 ESV)

“When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale.” (Revelation 6:12 ESV)

A lot of people had their cameras out Sunday night, taking pictures of the fourth Blood Moon since April 2014. Along with the hundreds of moon photos posted on Facebook and Instagram were thousands of comments indicating how each commenter felt about the Blood Moon Theory.

Some comments were even a bit on the testy side.

In case you are Rip Van Winkle and you just awakened from a twenty year nap, I’ll briefly explain the hype.

Pastor John Hagee recently published a book about The Blood Moon Prophecy, detailing a belief that because four consecutive lunar eclipses occur on Jewish holidays, it could indicate a sign from God that the end of the age is near. Hagee, and his minister friend, Mark Biltz, went into great detail building their case.

I read Hagee’s book. It was an interesting read. I looked up the scriptures, and cross referenced where I could. In my opinion, he didn’t connect the dots.

But I could have missed a few dots, so I won’t say he was wrong. I will say I was disappointed with the book. I didn’t see what the big deal was.

However, that doesn’t mean we should forget what the real message is. The real message isn’t about bloody moons, earthquakes, violent storms, crashing economies, or who is the antichrist this week.

That’s where I get a little annoyed with this whole deal.

American Christians have an uncanny way of readily believing anything someone says, if they happen to have a big enough platform. If they’re popular.

No, I’m not chewing on sour grapes.

I’ve done it, too. Yep, for a while I believed Jesus was coming in 1988.

By the way, by the time 1989 rolled around, I quit believing it.

We can be easy pickings for just about any idea that suggests something supernatural. So instead of digging into God’s word, like the Bereans (Acts 17:11), we save time and trouble and run with the idea because so and so said it.

Blood Moons seem to be another example.

But, like I said, we shouldn’t ignore the end time message the scriptures actually teach. Let’s look at the two previously mentioned scriptures in context.

“‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'” (Acts 2:17-21 ESV)

“When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?'” (Revelation 6:12-17 ESV)

What is the emphasis?

There is a time God refers to as the Last Days. A time when, first of all, He’ll pour out His Spirit upon ALL flesh; meaning everyone. Which indicates, to me, everyone will have a clear opportunity to understand what it means to either accept Jesus or reject Jesus.

“Before the dreaded Day of the Lord…” when the earth begins falling apart at a cataclysmic rate.

The main focus with ANY prophecy is, and should be, Jesus. It’s what the scriptures teach, and it’s something the Holy Spirit is emphasizing in these LAST DAYS.

I don’t know about the Blood Moons teaching. It’s interesting, but that’s as far as I’ll go.

But what’s truly exciting is Jesus IS coming again!

Yes, people have declared that message for years and years. But just because it hasn’t happened yet isn’t an indicator that it won’t.

So let the moon turn bloody red; people will believe whatever they want. But as for me, I’m going to keep looking unto Jesus. He is my Salvation, no matter what color the moon becomes.

“Be ye also ready, for in the moment you think not, the Son of man comes…”

The Plug Is Pulled

There’s a picture in my mind of what the year 2015 will look like.

I envision a humongous bathtub, full of water. As long as the water isn’t disturbed by an outside source, it remains calm. Even when the water is disturbed, it eventually levels out and becomes serene.

It’s how our lives are much of the time. Everything’s calm, cool, and collected as long as we’re not bothered. And when disturbances do take place, life eventually settles down and levels out.

But things are changing. The world as we know it is coming to an end.

I’m not prophesying a doomsday catastrophe for 2015 as much as I’m declaring that changes are coming faster than we may have noticed; quicker than we’ve prepared for.

The water is becoming disturbed, but not from any specific world event that has, or will, happen. No, something else has caused the water’s movement.

The plug has been pulled. The water is draining. Time is running out.

And the closer the water is to the drain, the faster it swirls, causing greater tension, less control, and extreme difficulty for anyone attempting to change courses.

“When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.” (Matthew 24:37-39 NLT)

“But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.” (2 Peter 3:10 NLT)

Back in Noah’s day, people were partying, promoting “self” as the god to be worshipped; totally ignoring the work and word of Noah. The 8-10 billion earthly inhabitants completely wiped God off the face of the earth; or so they thought. They had reached the point where every thought, every action, was evil.

So God said, “No more. I can’t reach them through any conventional means. They won’t listen, so they cannot change. It’s time to pull the plug.”

It took 120 years for the tub to drain, but it finally did. And even though Noah was the laughingstock to his generation, only those safely within the Ark survived.

The rains came – just like God said.

The earth shook, and the deep opened up; again, just as the preacher of righteousness had proclaimed.

All laughter ceased the moment all Hell broke loose.

2015. The world is much like it was in Noah’s day. Man and his so-called wisdom is being touted as grand and glorious, the high and exalted one. Many believe man and his godless, self-improvement plan has reached such a high and noble mark he is just on the edge of Godlikeness. His intellect, inventions, and ideologies have lifted him far beyond the point of mere arrogance.

He will do what he pleases, when he “damn well” wants to; and no so-called higher power or out-dated deity can tell him otherwise.

So the plug has been pulled.

Notice what Paul wrote to Timothy regarding the “last days”.

“You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NLT)

Was Paul writing about our day and age? It certainly appears so.

I don’t know when the tub will be completely drained. It may be some time. But the change in water level, and the increased pressure and flow around the drain, will be felt this coming year.

“So what should I do”, you ask?

Take a good look at your heart. What do you really believe? Who do you care about the most? Who has the final say about how you live your life?

Is Jesus simply a pastime for you? A hobby? Or is He truly the LORD of your life?

Are you ready to enter life on the other side of the drain? You see, water doesn’t cease to be once it drains from the tub. Neither does life cease once this present existence is through.

When’s the last time you had a heart to heart talk with God? Now just might be a good time; while there’s still water in the tub.

Yes, the water is moving; it’s level is lowering. 2015 will be a notable year.

The plug is pulled.

The future is here!
