Following Me

Remember the old Cat Stevens song; “I’m being followed by a Moonshadow…”?

You may think I’m weird, but I still like his old music; even if he is kind of a strange cat.

Not exactly sure what a moonshadow is, but it doesn’t really matter. You see, I’m being followed by several different things; things that cause my life to be filled with the presence and power of God.

For example:

Goodness and mercy follow me.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6 ESV)

The blessings of God are running after me, overtaking me.

“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God.” (Deuteronomy 28:2 ESV)

The angels of God surround me.

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” (Psalm 91:11 ESV)

Wealth and riches are in my house.

Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.” (Psalm 112:3 ESV)

By the way, you may want to read the entire 112th Psalm…

Yes, there are some great things following me, accompanying me. After all, He’s promised to cause all things to work together for my good (Romans 8:28). And if I’m going to believe one scripture, I might as well believe them all.

Some folks have adopted the line, “If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all…”, as their theme song. Others like to identify with Murphy’s Law. I’ve known some who just can’t “win for losing.”

But as for me, I’m not going to wait for fate, or hope Lady Luck is good to me.

Nope. Goodness and mercy follow me all my days. God is with me. God is for me (Romans 8).

That’ll do just fine.
