Deliverance

40 Days of Promises Day Eleven

The promises of God include deliverance.

Now, before you ask, “What kind of deliverance?” and begin writing down all the scriptures you know about Christians and demons… allow me to ask a question or two.

Question number one: does it matter what the method is labeled if it brings freedom to someone?

Question number two: to those who always want to treat Old Testament promises differently than ones found in the New Testament, is God less compassionate, less powerful, or any less Almighty now? Isn’t He the Unchangeable One?

No, it doesn’t matter. No, He hasn’t changed.

And yes, He is the Deliverer.

What can He, will He, deliver you from? Everything from A to Z.

Of course, this list isn’t by any means all inclusive. After all, He is “…able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think…”(Ephesians 3:20 ESV).

Meditate on the scriptures below and watch God reveal to your heart what you need, and what He can do.

“Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the Lord will work for us, for nothing can hinder the Lord from saving by many or by few.” (1 Samuel 14:6 ESV)

“Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hand.” (1 Samuel 17:45-47 ESV)

“You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.” (Psalm 32:7 ESV)

“Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them.” (Psalm 54:4-5 ESV)

“Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! For he shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron.” (Psalm 107:15-16 ESV)

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…” (Luke 4:18 ESV)

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son…” (Colossians 1:13 ESV)

Jesus. Our Deliverer.
