No Reason To Worry

Why do people worry so much?

Why do I worry as much as I do? How about you?

Is it because I don’t realize all I have? Like, maybe I’m unable to see what’s in my cupboard?

Do you have a vision problem, as well?

I mean, if I knew my bank account had one million dollars in it, would I worry about a twenty dollar bill? Or, if I needed two cans of green beans, would I wring my hands raw if I knew there were four cans in my cupboard?

What I’m wondering about is: is there a connection between knowledge and faith? Or, between worry and a lack of knowledge?

There just may be!

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6 ESV)

Lack of knowledge? No, I don’t mean having a knowledge of how bad things are, and neither does the Lord. He describes the particular kind of knowledge with these verses:

“Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]–blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.” (Proverbs 29:18 AMP)

“For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones), And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength.” (Ephesians 1:17-19 AMP)

God wants us to know what He has already accomplished for all mankind through Jesus Christ! He storehouse is full, and He is rich to all who call upon Him (Romans 10:12). He has given us everything that pertains to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:2,3). All we need to live as a godly, Christ honoring, disciple making, compassionate child of God is already available to each and every person!

If we would only KNOW it’s true!

But a lack of knowledge of God’s provision keeps us stumbling around through life, controlled by worry and fear. We have a twenty dollar need and worry ourselves sick, because we’ve never looked in God’s storehouse! Not knowing leads to not believing. Not believing is just a step or two away from destruction.

Worry, doubt, fear, anxiety, and probably nail biting, all have their roots in faith; but faith in the wrong report. Believing the report which says God’s storehouse is empty, He doesn’t care about us, He only wants me to fail in love, in health, in business, and in knowing Him; is believing the same voice Adam and Eve believed all those many years ago.

Next time we find ourselves tempted to worry, let’s get out our Bible, shut out all the world’s noise and the devil’s lies, and take inventory! Go through our Father’s cupboards and see…

…there’s really no reason to worry.

“And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15 AMP)
