A Prophetic Dream?

Like you, I’ve had my share of goofy dreams; dreams that made no sense whatsoever. But every so often…

Last night’s dream was odd, but when I awoke it no longer seemed that way. Rather, it seemed to whisper to my heart, “sent by God.”

I dreamed I was leading worship, nothing unusual about that; but in the middle of the “set”, things began to change.

While the music continued, I began to paint. My canvas was the back of an old tambourine, my medium was oils. The picture was of nothing in particular, nothing defined.

I stopped painting, but the music continued for a short season. I took a rag from my pocket, and wiped the canvas clean. The congregation of worshipers gasped, all except one. He was too preoccupied to notice. In fact, he was badgering one of the others; insisting the other person play cards with him.

I opened more paints, stirring, mixing the oil with the pigment. I then applied the paint to the canvas, while others watched.

The picture was undefinable; just paint swirled and smeared on the tambourine’s canvas. Once more, I took my rag and wiped the canvas clean.

By now the “game player” was getting angry. Angry with me, with the other worshipers, and with the musicians (who had stopped playing to watch me). He wanted some action of any kind; silence and uncertainty definitely bothered him.

But something started to happen. It began deep within my spirit. As I continued to wipe the canvas, removing all of the paint, the painting was being brushed on the canvas of my spirit by an unseen Artist.

The musical instrument wasn’t the canvas anymore; it was merely the frame to hold the true canvas. My spirit began to take on the image of another; the One Who created me. The One Who created music and worship.

The “game player” was livid! He wanted to hear some music; and he wasn’t at all satisfied with the new picture coming into view.

I listened to him for awhile.

But as the painting in me continued, I began to see through different eyes. I sensed a level of authority I had never known. Authority that even the demons, yes, the devil himself, could not refute. And with that authority, I felt a compassion that could care for the whole world if necessary.

I finally looked into the eyes of the complainer. Just looked.

And looked.

And continued looking until he stopped talking, and removed himself from the room.

The dream ended.

I believe the Lord is saying,

“Things are changing; especially in the realm of music and worship. The old way of promoting the music and the musician is being wiped clean. A new picture is being painted on the hearts of the worship leaders, and those who truly worship God. Music will not be the focus, but will be the instrument that carries, frames, the true picture.

“Those who will listen to the Lord, and not the criticisms of the “game players”, will find a new anointing, carry a new level of authority, to reveal a whole new picture. A picture painted by the Holy One of God!

“The music/worship “industry” will fail even though it will continue to gain in popularity. Concerts, ticket sales, product sales, can never replace true anointing. Those things can never carry God’s painting.”

“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24 ESV)

Be sensitive to the Spirit’s Voice, o worshiper of God.

Have you had a dream that seemed significant; one you believe is a word from God? Please comment. I’d love to hear about it.
