Why Zombies?

zombies aheadZombies. Not much to look at, hard to converse with, and their stink is worse than their looks!

Oh, and a word of advice: NEVER trust one. They have nothing to lose if caught in a lie.

The walking dead. Who would have thought it? And why the fascination? Is it because people relate to the walking dead? Do they actually believe someone could be resurrected?

I’m amazed at how many movies, TV programs, etc, are centered on the dark, demonic, pagan practice of voodoo and zombies. Those who “practice” voodoo believe a supernatural power can enter into a dead body and reanimate it. But stop and think about it for a second. What kind of supernatural power would enter into a dead body and keep it looking dead?

Not the kind of power I want anything to do with!

And why do zombies walk around like they have some sort of crippling arthritis? Stiff legged, hands out in front of them like the stereotypical sleep walker, eyes staring straight ahead; really now, how comfortable could that be?

Again, that kind of power I can do without!

Why do they seem to want to hurt people who are living? A personal vendetta, or are they simply motivated by the “power within”?

Folks, I believe there is a power that resurrects dead bodies, and spirits, but doesn’t leave them looking or acting dead. They don’t walk around scaring the daylights out of people. I’m referring to the power of the Living God! The One Who raised Lazarus from the dead, and Jesus from the tomb! The power that took someone dead in sin (me) and raised him to new life!

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:1-10 NKJV

I don’t think I walked like a zombie before new life entered my spirit, but I was certainly like one on the inside. Ugly, vulgar, and smelly; that’s how my spirit was.

But God breathed into my spirit His breath of life when I turned from MY ways, received His forgiveness, and confessed Him as the Lord of my life. Here’s what the scripture says happened to me:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24 NKJV

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,” Colossians 1:13 NKJV

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” NKJV

Yep, I once was dead but now I’m alive. And so is EVERYONE who names Jesus as the Lord of their life!

Oh, just one more thing to mention to you Christians. Don’t you think it would be important for us to walk like we’re alive, and not dead? Look like it, talk like it, and yes, even smell like it? Wouldn’t it be great if we walked around not trying to hurt people, but actually help them? Greater is the power in us, than the “power” that makes dead people walk, while still dead.

Zombies are weird! But what is weirder is people who have been raised to new life act like they’re still dead!

Come on, people, look alive!
