Are We Really “One Nation” Anymore?

20130125-021918.jpg

Just some simple observations and a very important question.

The observations: there are so many conversations, Internet postings, radio talk shows (including short wave), regarding this present Administration regarding gun laws, healthcare, disregard for the Constitution, cover-ups such as Benghazi and Fast and Furious, the economy, and dictator-type leadership from the President.

So much unrest and discord. Remind’s me of the 60’s, except television and music were a lot better (in my opinion). So much polarization…

The question? With obvious tension growing minute by minute, is the United States of America headed for another Civil War?

I hope not.

Our spiritual enemy enjoys sowing discord and division among brothers, churches, companies, nations. In fact, he is a covenant breaker by nature. He operates behind the scenes, manipulating and maneuvering people into deep seated hatred and violence.

We must understand we will either allow this present condition to unite us or divide us. May God help us realize who the real enemy is and act accordingly.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12 NKJV)

One response to “Are We Really “One Nation” Anymore?”

  1. In my humble opinion, we have not been “One Nation” for a long time if we are speaking of Bible based values and conscience. For many years we have expressed that we allow any form of religion or lack thereof to be practiced and tolerated as long as we do not mention the name of Jesus. The very mention of that name will divide, families, cities, cultures as well as the political scene and the press. But Jesus said that He would do just that. Matthew 10:34

I think from my study of American history, that is a far cry from what I believe the founding fathers had in mind when they framed the Constitution, The intent was to have freedom to worship the King of kings and Lord of Lords without government intervention. When one looks at what they were coming out from that would seem to be the logicial conclusion. Sometimes I wonder if they could even fathom how far we have drifted from the idea that they wished to express.

Please do not misunderstand me. I love this nation and I would give my life in its’ defense if need be. In fact, I swore an oath when I joined the military in 1967 to protect the Constitution of the United States and to defend it against ALL enemies,FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC! (emp. mine) But I also claimed alliegence to God through faith in Jesus Christ. His word declares that there is only one name under heaven through which one can be saved. The principalities and powers at work are working through different organizations, such as media, political mindsets, people of prominence and the list goes on.

It seems as if Christians are on some mind altering drug called tollerance that lulls them to sleep as to why God left us on the planet after we got saved. We have a right to enjoy the blessings of heaven now. Paul the apostle said that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. He also said that to die is gain. Of course he was speaking of our eternal home in heaven. The point is simply this. I am here as a witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That does not make me intolerant, it makes me who I am! I do not wish to fight with others. I wish to bring them into that place of eternal safety that only Jesus can provide. If I bury my head in the sand for the sake of temporary peace, I may be responsible for the eternal damnation of others.

The question is; how do we do it without a war? I believe we need to pray more Bible based prayers rather than the selfish ones we are accustomed to so often. Prayers like the one found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Ephesians chapter 1 and chapter 3. And how about that one in Acts 4 when the diciples asked for boldness to be tolerant and look the other way. Oh, sorry, I got that wrong. They asked for boldness to speak the word and that signs and wonders would be done in the name of God’s holy child Jesus! But if we prayed like that we would have to acknowlege that God still saves, heals and delivers today. That might mess up our programs and doctrine. Funny how some circles would not tolerate that for a moment , but we will let America go to hell in a hand basket rather than confront the fact that we have become weak and without faith and the resolve that the founding fathers had.

There is a lot more that I could say, but those who read this will have the idea that I am conveying by now. I would simply remind us all that in the very beginning of the birth of this nation, the founding fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor. Not just their honor. They pledged their sacred honor. They held the trust that had been given them as a sacred trust. They understood the importance of words. They used specific and exact words to describe and inforce what they believed. Then they backed their words up with corresponding action as needed so that you and I could enjoy the privelige to read what I have just written.

May I encourage you renew your resolve use your faith for an awakening to repentance for the sins of omission of a nastion beginning with you and I. We are the people of the only true God. We need to go first, and be the example to others that we have let some things get out of hand. Then we need to receive the forgiveness that empowers us once more to be a personal living epistle to be read of all men. In other words, become a doer of the word and not a hearer only.
